cheap, or perfect crossing route or 80 yard run with 3 broken tackles- all equal 6 points.

your right...and it's a great way to start a game, get in the opponents face...piss em off etc. especially if they are your rivals
but if you have to result to that to get points...thats when its cheap

The whistle was blown, all the linemen were set and the ball was snapped. The play was perfectly legal. The coach standing on the sideline tossing another ball up in the air was sort of tacky but it worked.

Tacky and cheap are two things that come to mind. It would be great in the NFL, but not to humiliate high school kids.

why did the defense not move when the ball did? What were they waiting for?

The "object" of the play is to fake the defense into thinking they're changing the ball out....

Yea, I got that part, but right there in a stance looking at the ball, most players are coached to move when it does. Once that center stood up, that entire line should have been in the backfield. Very odd, but I guess some coaches do not teach that??

Most refs probably would blow it dead once the QB started running down field.

No, this should not be ruled dead once the QB ran down the field, the snap was legal. Anyone who has seen the swinging gate run can tell you that much. The snap was legal because a snap needs only to be in one continuous motion, nowhere in the rules does it state that the center must snap the ball between his legs. If the referees blew this dead, they would not be doing their job correctly.

That's a state championship winning play when your needing a score with very little time on the clock.

First off, not too many teams are dumb enough to fall for that play. second, the refs will most likely blow the whistle if something like that where to happen. Third, you will never see that in 5a and if you do then it wouldn't work. Theres nothing wrong with getting a cheap score in but this is football not letsseewhocandothemosttrickplays ball

1st- ya I agree not many teams would fall for it...
2nd- It depends on the ref but there is a possibility of it happening...
3rd- I love the name of the sport but it won't happen....In 5A you could see some new teams fall for it like LBJ HS or Canyon Lake HS
