It will take place in P.A. I just got confirmation from PANews reporter Bob West! Don't know if it's a Friday game or Saturday afternoon game yet. I think this has game of the week all over it. Should be a sale-out so get there early. I already took off of work for this one!

Oh yes sirr!!!!! Everybody knows I have been waiting for 3 years for this game to occur. I just hope it's not a blow-out either way. It shouldn't be since it's in P.A.

so early to talk about this one but i seriously doubt it will be close. pam had a horrible defense last year and charles is gone right?? if so it will be a blowout in my opinion. sorry scooter but i just cannot see this one being close. too early to go into details why.

Yes I agree with you, I just can't see it close or winner for P.A., just look at Lufkin defense! OMG! there big and awesome! Last season, they beat us 44-33 and that was close because of there defense. I think Lufkin offense power decreased because of J. Lane but I see Defense is more power. I just don't see P.A. beat Lufkin, I just think its impossible.

I am not trying to offend you scooter, I just think Lufkin will win though, yall will win other games. :)

I said previously I don't know if we will win but it wont be a blow-out like what other folks are saying. PAM doesn't just get blown out at home..LOL our largest defeat was only by 14 I do believe and that was our first year of existence.

GREAT.. now i get to drive to PA!! jk.. sarcasm. Lufkin wins big IMO, out D is going to be stout and the offense won't lack anything, i dont think it matters where this one will be played.

PAM is Port Arthur Memorial. Lufkin plays very well on the road, it doesn't matter if it is home or away to them. Lufkin will bring the crowd if this game is considered a big game on September 9th. We in Lufkin have known about this game at PAM since Tyler Lee made the switch to play in Ohio. Our game with Lee would have been at The Rose in Tyler this year anyway. So this is old news to us.

I am glad Scooter got his wish, but I bet he wishes it had been last year instead of 2005.

Lufkin will have a great offense this year to compliment the outstanding defense they will pocess.

Go Pack!!!

please, pam would not have came close to beating lufkin last year. pam got beat 4 or 5 times last year right?? tyler lee beat them by a million points if i remember correctly. oh yeah they did not have charles for that one. they still lost 2 or 3 with charles. lufkin lost 1 game last year, to the eventual state champs and the score was 37-30. lufkin does not give up 50 to anybody scooter and especially not pam. i say the score would have been something like 50-21 lufkin. keep dreaming though scooter. :) we will see in september. you never know until they play the game but you better be glad the game is not at abe martin.

Didn't we score 48 points against the best defense in the Houston area last year? I think we did. We play a hell of a pre-district schedule with Tyler Lee (without Jamaal) and with Midland Lee (only lost by 7, but a lost is a lost).

scooter!
04-13-2005, 11:57 AM
I have to say it would've been score for score until Memorial's defense get tired late in the 3rd. But Jamaal and Jeremy McZeal would've gotten their yards and TD's anyway. This year not too many people expects PAM to have any RB's. I know I didn't but after going down there for 4 weeks I think differently now. The WR corps might be better than the 2003 team. I think if i'm not mistaking we will have about 3-4 RB going at teams this year with about 6 or 7 different WR's. Like I said, it reminds me a little of the 2003 team that lost to Katy (the eventual State Champs). I think that kept us from going to the state-semis that year in my opinion (We would've probably lost to SV again).

I think LP's offense is going to shock a lot of folks. It will be an entirely different look without Lane, true. However, I think they score more and more often this year from several different positions. Word is, that a real QB has come to town.

Just My Opinion....

Shhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! Everybody thinks that with Lane gone we are done. They said the same thing 4 years ago when Reggie went off to A&M. There is a kid on the way that is better than J.Lane. He is only a freshman, so I don't know if Outlaw will allow him to play varsity this year.

The QB position will be the best since the Reggie years!

Lufkin could possibly have the best talent the next two years that Outlaw has had to work with since he arrived in 1995.

Go Pack!!!

without a doubt this lufkin team should be absolutely loaded and next year could be scarier. i just love going into a year knowing you have a great defense coming back. i love tough defenses and i would rather know i had a great defense coming back rather then a great offense. do not get me wrong this offense has a chance to be very very good, they just have a few key newcomers that have to prove themselves.

KT2000
04-18-2005, 06:26 PM
Why take a few minutes to score by pounding away with a player like Lane when you can score in about half a second with E.J. Shankle?

In my opinion, Lufkin has a chance to re-define quick strike offense on the high school level with the talent they have on campus in 2005.

There is always added excitement when a team makes a really deep run and is bringing back quite a bit talent. This team will miss Jacovey Smallwood more than they realize - but Claybon could (not a definite) be special. The frosh (to be) running back will play jv next year most likely - he will resemble Vondrell McGee in a couple of years - and the kid is very smart. The other frosh to be is such a man already (around 6'1" - 220 as an 8th grader) he may be on varsity - but I doubt it - he will probably go jv as well.

pack0808
04-19-2005, 09:54 AM
everybody in lufkin has heard about this freshmen rb and how he could be better then lane and how he is basically a manchild. as an 8th grader he was almost 200lbs i believe and he averaged over 200 yards per game. i know he has to be good after what outlaw said about him. he said he has a chance to be the best he has ever seen at the hs level or something like that and if anybody knows talent outlaw does. i hear he is so good that he actually has a shot to start on varsity this year. a freshmen on lufkin's varsity is absolutely un heard of. even sophomore starters are very rare on lufkin!! the kid has to be scary but i have not seen him play. i have also heard unbelievable things about jeremy claybon but they both have not played a varsity game yet and they are unproven. i just hope they do not listen to all the hype and think they are the greatest without even playing a varsity game. i have seen kids get hurt from too much attention and they are unable to take the pressure!! i trust outlaw to keep these two kids humbled and i know he will be working their butt off. i think shankle will start at rb next year though. claybon, shankle, dez bryant, r thomas, j turner, tgordon and m raines could make this team very very explosive quick strike offense like kt said. the defense should be absolutely loaded with aj penson, r taylor, r hurts, r murphy, m roberts, e taylor, s willis, j jackson, l hewitt, t gordon, j harris, c brown.

Curious to see if Hewitt can break his own record this year.
And Mandela Roberts and Stewart Willis will be big as well.

PackAttack2005
04-19-2005, 10:33 AM
Never know what could happen, but whether Hewitt breaks his record of 11 pass interceptions in 2004 is not important. He will be a force in the defensive secondary for Lufkin and so will Mandellad Roberts and Stewart Willis and many others on defense for the Panthers.

Go Pack!!!

pack0808
04-19-2005, 11:08 AM
i doubt hewitt will break his record last year because teams will try to avoid throwing to his side of the field. he can be a huge factor by just being out there. he can go out and be a shut down corner on the opponents best wr.

ALLIN
04-19-2005, 11:10 AM
KT..... c'mon now "redifine" quick strike offense? SLC had an average time of possession last year on its drives of like 2 minutes. If that gets redifined, Lufkin will win state. Good luck on that.

KT2000
04-19-2005, 11:20 AM
I used "re-define quick strike" more in reference to Lufkin's speed. They are much faster all-around than Carroll was even last year or will be this year.

I think Lufkin has the talent on campus to build something special this year, but we won't know until they suit up and throw it down on the field.

As far as Hewitt goes, I think the other corner (Ja'Corey Turner or Jamie Harris?) will get a chance to have a lot of picks simply because Hewitt probably won't see much of anything thrown to his side.

ALLIN
04-19-2005, 11:43 AM
Have you seen Carrol's Rec. 40 times and overall route speed. That is a bold statement you just made, but you are right, only time will tell. They may have faster people in the secondary, but I think 4 on 4 the rec are faster. I hope SLC sees them again in the 5th.

pack0808
04-19-2005, 12:00 PM
if hewitt plays some wr like i expect him to i would put lufkin's 4 or 5 wr's against anybody in the state when it comes to speed. shankle 4.3 145a 200 meter champion, he beat the speed demon from collins goodson. hewitt 4.4 unbelievable break away speed. he played slc with a completely torn acl so you have not seen him near full speed. raph thomas 4.4, m raines 4.5. dez bryant 4.5. trust me this lufkin wr corp has a ton of speed.

ALLIN
04-19-2005, 12:17 PM
Break away speed is great and SLC has that, all 4.5 or less. The speed comes into play with the execution of routes. Route speed is where SLC cannot be touched.

Is Clent Renfro 4.1? I heard someone say that and it sounds like its impossible for high school person to run that fast like NFL Players?

dragonsdaddy
04-19-2005, 10:18 PM
never heard anything like that. he ran a pr at district in the 300 im hurdles, 37 flat and jogged the last 10 yds as he won going away. don't know what the rest of the state comp looks like, but in the metromess, he's the best. he has been timed several times by hand in the 4.3's. can't trust those, but he can flat run over some hurdles. the state record is 35.47, which is going to be in trouble next year if he can stay healthy.

04-19-2005, 11:05 PM
i watched both of the two new lufkin freshman all this year while going to see my daughter cheer at the 8th grade football games. they are really good to be only in 8th grade. last year both of them and one more played on the 8th grade football team(s) as 7th grades. but, something tells me outlaw will keep both of them on JV. it would be nice to see them on varsity, but i honestly don't think he would put freshman starting on varsity. but thats just me..

No one ever said 4. 1 was his time. It was a question about a rumor that was dismissed. Renfro is likely the fastest rec in the state. i do not know why people have such a hard time believing that. Travel to Lubbock for the reg track meet and you can see for yourself. Or just wait until SLC plays your team and you will see then. Simply put, these times are probably exagerated, but he is hands down FAST.

pack0808

i think he just ran in the 200 meters and 400 meter relay and he won the 200 but they were disqualified in the relay. he beat the very very fast michael goodson from klein collins. goodson came in a close second. dan quon?? landry of lufkin was the 400 meter individual champion. he will probably start at cb for lufkin this year. he played a little last year when hewitt got hurt and boy is he small.

all i know is the woodlands will absolutely dominate the longer distances. i believe they have had the #1 cross country team in the nation 2 years in a row?? they placed 1st 2nd and 3rd in every event that had a long distance. too bad great distance running does not help you in football. :)

lp fan, all in seems to believe that quick strike offenses have been defined recently by slc's. i agree to a point. today's offenses are measured against todays big dogs. 3-5 years ago these same comparisons were against ennis and stephenville which showed the way for coaches like dodge and florence. i'm not sure why that is so hard for you to accept without tangentially attacking slc. seems allin believes that taking over the reign of qs offense will be good news for lp. i will buy it.

Like no one could ever raise the bar even higher then what SLC has set it at, and that next years title was there waiting for SLC to come and pick it up. I think SLC is one the top programs in the country, and would never say anything negative about it. If I took ALLIN's post out of context I apolgize. I hope Lufkin and SLC will meet in the semi's again this coming season as it well make for another great game.

i am excited about that football game in september, but right now i am into lufkin baseball. lufkin is 8-4 in district after winning 5 in a row and either in 2nd or 3rd place i am not sure. i think they are tied with klein and klein collins for 2nd but i am not sure?? they go up against the #4 team in the nation and #1 in the state the woodlands tuesay night. woodlands won the first meeting 3-2. drabek is supposed to pitch tuesday and many are saying he will be the #1 pick in next year mlb draft. that means he will be a millionaire for sure. should be a great game featuring a traditonal baseball powerhouse in lufkin going up against a new power on the block in the woodlands. should be fun.

Get there early because if yall are rankedpretty high everybody will get seats on the home side and then migrate over to the visitors side just like yall do at home. yeah wideewide i hear he is that good and the #1 pick is not a rumor. he could go as a shortstop or a pitcher. he gets it up in the high 90's. there #2 pitcher signed a full ride with texas and that is who lufkin lost 3-2 to the first time they met this year. they have about 4 or 5 that will be drafted off this team. they sound like lufkin in the early 90's.

well you know lufkin will be ranked high?? when have they not been lately?? they are almost always in the top 5 since 2001 and they have been #1 at least 2 or 3 times in that span. i would be very surprised if lufkin is not preranked in the top 5 this year.
You not lying there. Just hope it doesn't get into the youngsters heads this year.

I think Outlaw will not allow that to happen this year. He will keep reminding them about 2 years ago! I just hope the offense is good enough to win some games. The defense is going to be totally awsome!
