What do you guys think the Cowboys and Texans should do with their first round draft picks? Keep in mind Dallas has the 11th overall pick and the 20th overall pick, while Houston has the 13th overall pick.

If it is possible I think Dallas should get Braylon Edwards and maybe a safety with there first rounders.

It would be great to get Braylon Edwards, but there is no way he slips to 11. As for safety, i don't think that is their main concern, i think they are looking for a guy like Shawne Merriam because he will be versetile in their 3-4 defense, possibly switching out from Defensive End and Linebacker (6-4, 250). Also, i think they are looking for a big play receiver, so they will go for the best available at the 20 spot, which will probably be Roddy White from UAB, a very quick receiver that doesnt lack size either (6-1, 207). As for the Texans, i see them going after their biggest weakness (offensive line) and picking up the best tackle in the draft, Alex Barron. He is a beast at 6-6 308, and can play either side of the offensive line

I forgot the players in College beside OU and USC.
I bet the cowboys use there 11th pick and trade there 20th pick for a future pick in the next draft...

the texans first round pick will either be derrick johnson from UT (if they can trade up a few spots) or the best offensive tackle in the draft...i forgot his name but supposidly he's a beast!...things are looking up for the texans in 05

You are thinking of Alex Barron, and he is huge. I doubt they trade up to get Johnson, i see him falling at number 10 to the lions.

I don't care about the Texans...THEY SUCK GO COWBOYS!!!
With the 11th pick I think the Cowboys are gonna take Pacman Jones from West Virgina and then the 20th I think they'll take Dan Cody from OU....

Pacman Jones would be good, but i think they are looking more for a versitile player, plus, they just signed Henry in the offseason to help their cornerback woes.

The texans suck?....the cowboys sucked terribly last year. The texans are in all of their games until the very end. And by the way Pac man jones will not be selected by the cowboys :o

I think PacMan is way overrated. I hope the Cowboys don't take him.

Thought this was Texans/Cowboys thread?
Cowboy's been in league 30 yrs longer than Texans.
I'm not a Bud Adams fan anyway. Used to be a Tom Landry/Cowboy fan
until mid-70's.
Anyway......no matter how many Super Bowls Cowboys have been in,
Texans still beat them in their first regular season game ever.
Not bad for an expansion team. Historic.

True the Cowboys have been in the league 30 years longer...
But has there been a team in Dallas 30 years longer.
I seem to remember a pretty little powder blue team that
never made it to the Super Bowl either.
Get used to it Texans fans...your still at the door knockin'
and won't kick it down for a long time to come...

Well, it's like any other Houston team. The fans
will support them as long as they are either --new--or
winning...after a while there will be more fans at 5a games
than Texans games. Let the novelty wear off and all of those
old Oilers fans will show their true colors.

I'm getting livelier 'smack' here than on the 5A board.
I shoulda been here sooner.
Anyway, this is why there is a lot of disdain down here
for Dallas fans. Just a bit arrogant and full of themselves.
The Cowboy's successes aren't what gripes people because
if that was the case we would be 49er haters or Dolphin haters
or even Steeler haters.
It's usually the Cowboy fans that rubs everyone the wrong way.
And...I can talk about the Texans beating the Cowboys because
the first game for a franchise is a big one. It just shows how much
that Cowboy loss really hurts and makes this smackin' so delightful!

No...what is really funny is...
Cowboys fans have already forgotten about
it ...and Texans fans still brag about it.
Do Cowboys fans go around saying..."52-17..take that Buffalo"
Nope...because it's over. The Cowboys won the game.
No need to say it over and over and over.
If the Texans only claim to fame is 1 victory over the Cowboys...
well...that's just comical. Who cares?
Guess what? 10 other teams beat the Cowboys that year.
It's not like Dallas was the defending champs and Houston
stomped him. In fact Houston fans should just be glad they
didn't get a franchise 5 years earlier...Now that would have been ugly.

Well, you're partially right.
It's only a big win for Texans 'cause it was first franchise game - period.
It's funny the guy that started me mouthin' never jumped in.
You guys that did did jump in aren't even from Dallas. Your towns
don't have a pro team in any sport. Where were the Dallas people?
It's over and I'm more excited about High School football anyway.
See you guys on the other board.

If he is still there at #20 they will grab him.
I don't think he will be though. Boy he sure is
falling in the draft...I figured he would be a top
10 pick.

I'm surprised at how far Derrick dropped too, but I think Dallas made the right move. I'd give their draft a B+
What I'm really surprised about is how early Maurice Clarett was taken. I happen to think he's still a pretty good RB, but most people were saying he'd be taken in the fifth because of "character problems".

You didn't include hockey:
Dallas 1 NHL title 2 Conf. titles
Houston 1 or 2 minor league titles
You really don't want to include colleges because Rice has 1 baseball title and UH has done good at track and golf, but I don't remember any other titles. SMU has quite a few titles in various sports and TCU has won to a lesser degree.

I didnt include hockey because houston has a minor league hockey team and right now dallas has no hockey team...u cant compare the NHL to the minor league hockey...its like comparing mlb to minor league baseball or pro football to college football

Sure you can compare the 2 because we were talking about pro success. That's like saying NY, Chicago, and LA can claim baseball success for one team, because no town in Texas has 2 teams.
