You knew this thread was coming guys.
Dallas vs Oakland.
I think Dallas will take this one against the struggling Raiders.
Dallas 35 Oakland 21
Oakland scores on 70+ yard TD pass, interception return, and 1 good drive with a run to finish it.

I think Dallas will pull it off. But i wouldn't be suprised if the Raiders won. As the great Sean Salisbury once said, "the raiders are the best 0-3 team in the league."

I will say with the way the Cowboys secondary has been playing....
Having Randy Moss on your fantasy team should pay off big time.
That secondary should not be that horrible. They have a lot of talent back
there...but they sure haven't showcased any of it.

The Iggles could be in some trouble if the injuries to McNabb and Akers are as serious as they sound. So far this season, the Eagles are #1 in total offense, and #5 in total defense. Pretty solid.

Akers is deffinetly NOT out for the season. More like a couple of weeks. And McNabb is pretty banged up, but I would still take him over just about every QB in the league. They have a bye week in 3 weeks which should give the team a little rest.
They have Koy Detmer to back up Donovan and they also have Mike Machman. Koy went 9-9 for like 100 yds. 2 weeks ago.

Whenever a ball goes deep it is the Safety's job to cover him, the Cornerback goes along with it as a backup (in the long situation). But the safety covers long recievers or if he sees a run, drop in and tackle. I'd take Sean Taylor over Roy any day.

Well when the Cowboys were like 3rd and 8, Bledsoe threw it to Crayton and Sean hit Crayton so hard the ball popped out whereas Roy fell asleep on two plays that were nearly alike that cost the "Boys" the game....

Maybe you didnt read what I said... I said he should NOT play safety... he should gain some LBs and play Linebacker... he would be happier there, getting the chance to kill someone every play. He tries too hard to obliterate someone isntead of trying to make the tackle, and he has a hard time covering the deep balls.

It will never happen. Darren Woodson was a linebacker at Arizona St.
He played safety his entire career in the NFL.
The Cowboys didn't draft Roy Williams for pass coverage. They drafted him because he knocks people into the middle of next week. And he is the best safety in the league.
Either that or the whole...Pro Bowl thing is just a joke.

I read this thread and decided to go back and review the long plays of the last two weeks against the Cowboys secondary. In each case there were 3 or 4 receivers running intermediate or deep patterns. In each case, one of the underneath guys blew a coverage, or a corner got beat, leaving the 2 safeties to choose between 3 or 4 receivers to cover. By the time the QB threw the ball to the most open receiver, it was too late for the safety in the zone to make the coverage. In fact, in one case, Williams had to choose between 3 receivers in a split second, and it was just enough for the 49ers. receiver to get by.
Conclusion: Yes Roy Williams is out of place in deep coverage, however, in each case noted by the self proclaimed experts on this board, Williams was put in a position to cover 2 or more recievers due to blown underneath coverage, and with the talent in this league, 1 can't cover 2 or more. Any capable QB will easily disect that kind of blown coverage. The Cowboys need to shore up the underneath stuff in their nickel package and corners if this problem is to stop.
Willaims was like the little boy with his finger in the dike and there were more holes than he could plug up.
Also Skins, you ever heard of man-on-man coverage? It's a very popular means of covering outside receivers. Cornerbacks in "Man" coverage are responsible for their outside receiver, releasing the safety in his zone to cover inside receivers or play the run. It was obvious in half of the cases that Henry was in "Man" coverage and blew it and in one case, the nickel safety blew his deep responsibility. The fact that Williams came in late made him appear to be beaten in the coverage, but in reality, his responsibility was inside and he was only reacting to a play that the other guys blew.
If you need any more lessons in Football 101, let me know.

Yeah, I know you said he needed to be repositioned......maybe your right but I obviously don't follow the Cowboys too much. But enough to know that Roy isn't that good of a safety.
As for Oakland...I still say they'll beat Dallas.
I don't see how a Pro Bowler can have this happen twice within a minute.

Well, if he's so good of a Safety, he should be reading the quarterback's eyes....last time I remember (and I did only see it once) he was lookin' at that reciever all along. Sure he's a good player...otherwise he wouldn't be playing in the NFL....but from what I've seen he obviously can't cover the long ball too well.

The thing about trick plays is they're designed to give you a temporary advantage. You still have to win the game with a traditional offense. Sometimes a trick play is put in just to set up another play later on and vice-versa. I've always said to stay at home and expect the pass until you know they're past the line of scrimmage and have to run.
