First sweep of the Yankees in Boston in what, 17 years? Hey, isn't that the number of world championships behind New York the Red Sox find themselves? Maybe this is the Red Sox year. In any event, congratulations to the Red Sox. (just makes me even sicker after a really bad week.)

sure it does. how many times have division titles or wild card berths been lost because of poor aprils. you cant get to meaningful games in september and october without taking care of april and may first

they also had better pitching last year and we didnt. we are a much different ball club than we were a year ago. anytime there is a sweep in this rivalry it will lead to excitment among the fanbase. In fact if I remember correctly last time we swept NY was in 04, it too was in April. You remember what happend in october of that year? ;)

I have been a Yankees fan my entire life. I grew up in Richmond, Virginia when the Richmond V's were the AAA farm team for the Yankees. So I watched all the great Yankees teams of the 50s and 60s come through town just before the start of the season. Would head down to the Hotel John Marshall across from Capital Square every time the Yanks were in town. If you got there early enough, in the basement of the hotel, there was a grill where breakfast was served. While the Yankees came in and waited for breakfast to be served, you could politely ask them for their autographs and they would gladly pass the baseball around the table for a little star-struk kid. Still have several of those baseballs, even though I have to keep my son away from them, especially the entire 61 Yankees team ball. Lived in Connecticut for over a decade and would frequently drive down to the Stadium for games at night and on the weekends. Of course, I also spent some time in Cambridge, MA, so I have seen more than just a handful of games at Fenway as well, where I would root for the Sox, assuming they were not playing the Yankees. Still, I am and always will be a Yankees fan. The only thing tolerable about this weekend was the Sox wearing the VT this past Friday. That took some of the sting out of that loss.

Thank you FF. My father lived in Boston for awhile when he was growing up, so I have his signed baseballs as well from the Braves and the Red Sox. Plus he had those of his father, so the collection goes back aways. He was the one who clued me in to the John Marshall brekfast idea. Smart man. Anyway, thanks for the moral support of the Hokies. I would be lying if I said I hadn't sort of lost it a few times this past week.

Boston caught the Yankees with their pitching staff on life support. If the Yankees can get their pitching healthy, they can still take the division. all that being said, I hope Boston wins it!:)

As Mariano goes - so go the Yanks.
"Mr. Clemens please...Hey Roger, Brian Cashman here...we're ready to finalize that one year $25M deal"
"BAHAHHHAHHHHHAA! - that was last week Cashie - your price just hit $32M and it's climbing....and tell Georgie hello for me."

and Cashie why dont you add a second hummer to that list while your at it and o yeah, no games at Fenway. those fans are mean to me and hurt my feelings when they chant my name. my hamstring always cries and it seems to affect my pitching in crucial games. thanks
