I'm rather excited about getting to experience Aggie Muster. I know that sounds bad, but please understand I mean it in the best way possible. It is a great honor be a part of such a special ceremony and celebrate the lives of our fellow Ags. I think it is one of (if not THE) best traditions of any college anywhere.

Comparing the day we honor our dead to sheep sex...classy, real classy.

The students of Texas A&M University coordinate the Campus Muster. Because Muster was established to bring Aggies together, each Campus Muster is dedicated to the fifty-year reunion class. The Campus Muster involves an entire day of activities for students both present and past. Alumni enjoy a special program including tours of the ever-changing campus. At noon, all Aggies congregate at the Academic Plaza for the Camaraderie Barbecue that rekindles the tradition of the original Muster celebration. That night, the Muster ceremony consists of an address by a keynote speaker, the reading of poems, followed by the Roll Call for the Absent. The Roll Call honors Aggies that have fallen since the last Muster roll was read. As the names are read, a friend or family member answers 'Here', and a candle is lit to symbolize that while those Aggies are not present in body, they will forever remain with us in Aggie Spirit.

I didnt realizse what you were asking to a minute ago. I think why the reason why wides comments were not banishment material is because he wasnt referencing sheep sex. as a former memebr of the US Navy he sees the corp as somewhat of a mock towards the real military and in a sense I can see where he is coming from. I dont think he went overboard but thats just my opinion.

Except that the Aggie Muster is a Tradition held in the highest esteem by all Texas A&M students and alums. It's a chance for ALL to honor the fallen. It's not exclusively for the Corps of Cadets. As an Aggie parent, I think the post was inappropriate but not unexpected ,given the source.

trust me I know firwst hand what aggie muster is. i've attended one when I was only 15 to honor a parent. i dont think wide was mocking muster at least I hope not. I dont see in anyway shape or form how you could mock honoring the fallen. even if you despise everything about that school.

I respect your opinion and I guess your loyalty. But in this particular case, I think it's best just to agree to disagree and leave it at that. I do agree that it doesn't warrant banishment. But the comments were still uncalled for.

I don't like the term "muster" being attached to it. That is a military term meaning to form troops together for inspection or roll call. OR...to enlist in the military.
These dorks have no right to use that term....they haven't earned it.
The people they are honoring DID earn it...for a bunch of junk-squeezing toy soldiers to "muster" is laughable.

I've been to hundreds of "real musters" and filled out hundreds of "muster reports"...funny thing is I remember actually being in the military when I did it.

I, for one, very much appreciate what the Aggies have done for Virginia Tech this past week. They have invited us to participate with them in their annual muster. We are honored to do so. On one of their websites, they even held an honorary muster for the 32 victims of the shootings this week. Virginia Tech and Texas A&M share a bond that many others may never understand, as the two schools are very similar in their backgrounds
