Everyone that knows anything about football knows that Justin Johnson will de-commit. Not enough room for 2 possible 5-star running backs.

That or he'll play LB. Texas recruited him there and there is some speculation that he's a better defensive player than RB. On top of that, most will tell you that it is going to take a miracle to get Calhoun into anything resembling a college.

OU will get him in....it's OU.

Johnson will go to an SEC I predict, if not Texas.

They will seriously have 10 high school All-American RBs on the roster this Fall.

Mack seriously amazes me every year. He must have a golden tongue.

No Texas school will touch UT in the recruiting wars until he retires or moves on...neither one likely to happen soon.

Mack and Stoops battle each other pretty good. Stoops get a few big ones and then Mack gets a few big ones. They are both outstanding at what they do.

April 14th is coming pretty soon... will it have any effect on any of these already committed recruits?

Heard on 1300 am The Zone this morning(sports radio broadcast here in Austin) that if Calhoun qualifies there is going to be alot of surprised people...

I have followed recruiting loosely since Vince Young's recruitment and Calhoun's academics tend to be viewed worst than Noel Devine's and that blows the mind. I hope for the kid's sake he takes advantage of his senior year and gets his grades in order because he is a talented young man, but in this day and age with the NCAA so closely monitoring graduation rates and what not, there are quite a few big time programs that don't even want to touch the kid.

Still, you gotta give Brown the edge on this one. The dude is "Mr. February", and with that NC in his pocket, it's gonna be that much tougher for anyone else to gain ground. He and Pete Carroll divide the recruiting world between them and there is no third.

Like I said, the other Texas schools have to just hope he takes his pension pretty soon, because I don't see him jumping ship to the NFL, and he is a god for the burnt orange brigade.

As a Tech and Ag fan, I cringe every year the class rankings pop up, because I know what it is gonna look like. UT WILL be in the top 5. The heck of it is, I usually know what it is gonna look like about a year in advance now. I just wish I could listen to his sales pitch now and again. He's the master.

Golden tongue my foot. I know people like Mack as a person, but Ben Franklin is talking to the UT recruits. Ben also works for the enemies.

I want to listen to Joe Jamail's sales pitch and guys like Boone Pickens and Tom Hicks.

Now, we all know UT has good facilities and very good teams and prepares players for the NFL, but it's all about the benjamins baby.

If Calhoun's academics are so bad, and I have heard consistently that they are terrible, how does he play the whole season? Special ED?

disclaimer- I am sincerely asking about the special ed thing. i am in no way disparaging kids that need these classes or Calhoun if he indeed attends this format of classes. Please don't take the conversation that way.

.
there is a good chance that they have him in resource classes. especially if he is an "at-risk" student. there are lots of ways to get around the no pass no play rule, but we've already had that thread here.

That's very true. Heck, Vince has a contract worth about 500,000 Ben Franklins thanks to his time at Texas. There are dozens of Texas players in the NFL right now making thousands of Ben Franklins. Over the last 6 years, Texas leads the nation in top 5 and top 10 overall draft picks and Mack is not shy about talking about. Here you can see him and his staff working to make sure the players get their Ben Franklins...

Recruits know this.

You know it's more than just that. I feel confident that Tech is cheating, so don't think I'm throwing rocks and not looking at my own house.

I have been told eyewitness accounts of football cheating in money and gifts at these schools over a period covering the last 40 years:

Arizona
Houston
Miami, FL
Oklahoma
SMU
Texas

If you want to believe that, then go for it, but you will have an easier time finding Hoffa's body than you would proving what you are saying. Think about it... the Oklahoma basketball program got in trouble for making too many phone calls. The huge scandal now involving a school is a little over $7000 paid out to a couple of Oklahoma football players for jobs they didn't show up for... and that is the biggest scandal in some time. Athletic programs don't fart funny without the NCAA knowing about it. They knew about a WR that was living with Matt Leinart rent free. Seriously, this wide spread, massive cheating that you and others proclaim almost defies logic.

Every major program has at least one NCAA compliance official on campus. The University of Texas has three... one employed by the NCAA and two employed by The University. These are people whose only job is to find cheating. Seriously, why would a Joe Jamail risk so much to slip a player a few hundred dollars when he can donate a million to the football program and get his name on the side of a building. Let's be real. The cheating scandals of the past involving Oklahoma, Alabama, SMU, A&M, etc. changed the way the NCAA does things and makes the idea of that kind of cheating almost impossible.

My buddy used to work in Norman at dealerships across I-35 from Big Red Sports. He said names of players he knew were getting cars to drive around for free. Not everybody was driving cars for free, but there were people who had hollow jobs but got paid good money. My buddy talked to the people in payroll and he's an OU fan so it's not like he's telling me the story with sour grapes. In February, I sat in the chow hall and talked to a guy stationed at Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ in Tucson. He's friends with one of the Wildcat DB's and said his buddy gets paid more money than he makes each month in the Air Force and stated the basketball guys get paid more. I think his buddy gets $3K a month. It was only a few months ago that a mom told me about her son at Miami and how his teammates were bragging about what kind of BMW they were going to get and these kids are inner-city Miami guys that can't sniff a BMW without a LOT of outside help.

I heard about SMU from a former college player at another university, the Houston story is about my uncle, and the Texas story is about a high school teammate of my 1st cousin.

The honest to goodness truth is OU got caught because Bomar ran his mouth.

All schools cheat to a certain degree. It's the level of cheating that really brings the eye of the NCAA and other investigators.

I think the Univ-Texas has many things in their favor. Besides just being a house hold name in the State of Texas for "ALL" high school football players. The overall level they are know for playing (especially the past few years), their facilities blow away recruits and their families and the support system at the University for athletes. Basically the schools sales itself very easy.

I mean do you really think Mack Brown has to really recruit that hard?? I could put almost any good college coach at the Univ-Tx and they would walk away each season with at least 15 out of the top 100 players in Texas each year because it's Texas.
