Since they had to skip a day of educating the bright minds in the district they decided to cancell Good Friday and make the teachers, and students come to school today. I know that they have received numerous phone calls on the subject, but to have only about 400 kids from College Park actually show up and only about a third of Knox Junior high show up is really quite stupid. I am sure it was the same all over the district. Is really haveing 181 instruction day really necessary?

yup, our kids said they expected about 30 % attendance today. Unless you're a baseball player, 30% sucks.

Besides that, all they planned today was fun(meaningless) stuff.

What do you think about 8 or 9 hour school days? Believe it or not, it is being dicussed in the northeast and if the NEA buys into it, it will sweep the nation.

I think it would be good only if they go back to giving these poor kids an hour for lunch instead of the stupid 35 minutes. And the poor kids in elementary that eat lunch about 10:45 then have to go the rest of the day without anything else. That pi$$es me off.
Anyway, also I think the year round school would be good also. But they would have to leave the time of school alone for that. Just my .02
