I've been running this site for, what, seven years now and in that time we've seen some strange stuff on the board. I mean strange.

Remember the poster YourNextLover in our first or second season? The heated debate between myself and RebelGranny, etc., etc., etc.?

However, this coalition business takes the cake. I never thought I'd see the day when the cunning posters of 5A would divide into cliques. The absolute last thing we need in this world are more committees.

I'd like to propose that all coalitions dissolve, and that we all become one 5A family once again.

Some have asked me, "What is acceptable smack?" and my response is always the same. Keep the personal attacks and "Cousin f'er", "sheep humper" comments out of it. Can we do that? I don't know because eventually someone always pushes too far, someone's feelings get hurt and the thread gets locked.

Regardless, I believe we need to take down the coalitions. They are but fronts which attempt to mask the true issues in my opinion.

Things like the Longhorn-Aggie debate do annoy me because I've got high expectations for the board. I believe this can be a place where people actually get good discussion instead of the same crap you often see on non-moderated boards where people couldn't care less what gets posted. I happen to believe you guys have much more knowledge beyond tired catch phrases such as "aggy", "whorn", etc. , etc.

Champ and I do care and like doing this, and we're here to stay. We've done it seven years now for fun. We believe we have some of the best posters you will find on the subject of football. Many of you have played the game, or have had kids play. You have a lot to offer the board. The ones who don't offer anything, and are here just to start flame wars get banned very quickly. We keep the rest of you around for a reason.

In conclusion, get out from behind your coalition fronts and let's meet in the middle on this deal.

My terms are, first and foremost, that we start using a little more common sense when we post, and also not take everything we read as if it is an insult to our immediate and extended families.

People will respond to what they see with their eyes, so that's why I'm always asking for civil discussion.

Common sense basically. You should have a very good idea of what will or won't piss a lot of people off before you post it. If not, then it probably shouldn't be posted.

The game of football in and of itself is extremely uncivilized...why would you expect the fans of the sport to be nice and kind to one another at all times?

Football is very uncivilized, but we aren't playing football on here. We are talking about it. Huge difference. I've never sting blocked my PC. I don't execute a bucket step before sitting down to post.

Sometimes, I post while wearing my old Hutch uniform (plastic should pads and all) but that's besides the point.

If things continue to get out of hand, which they no doubt will sometimes, then we will take the proper measures. If bans are warranted, then that's what we'll do. It takes five seconds of our time. I'd like to think we can avoid letting things get to that level though. If we can't have discussion on here without threads getting closed, then that completely defeats the purpose of this forum.

I say we should have a "smack central" forum. I've seen it on a few message boards. It is reserved for heated discussions,rivalries,touchy subjects,etc....
It keeps all of the heated debates and stuff away from the main forum and if you are hypersensitive or basically a female dog...THEN DON'T COME IN THE SMACK FORUM!!

My terms are, first and foremost, that we start using a little more common sense when we post, and also not take everything we read as if it is an insult to our immediate and extended families.

As most of you know, this is an Interweb message board. Some of you may be joking when you make the outlandish comments you do, but you have to realize the sarcasm meter is difficult to read by just looking at words on a monitor. People will respond to what they see with their eyes, so that's why I'm always asking for civil discussion.

Common sense basically. You should have a very good idea of what will or won't piss a lot of people off before you post it. If not, then it probably shouldn't be posted.

I've been running this site for, what, seven years now and in that time we've seen some strange stuff on the board. I mean strange.

Remember the poster YourNextLover in our first or second season? The heated debate between myself and RebelGranny, etc., etc., etc.?

However, this coalition business takes the cake. I never thought I'd see the day when the cunning posters of 5A would divide into cliques. The absolute last thing we need in this world are more committees.

I'd like to propose that all coalitions dissolve, and that we all become one 5A family once again.

Some have asked me, "What is acceptable smack?" and my response is always the same. Keep the personal attacks and "Cousin f'er", "sheep humper" comments out of it. Can we do that? I don't know because eventually someone always pushes too far, someone's feelings get hurt and the thread gets locked.

Regardless, I believe we need to take down the coalitions. They are but fronts which attempt to mask the true issues in my opinion.

Things like the Longhorn-Aggie debate do annoy me because I've got high expectations for the board. I believe this can be a place where people actually get good discussion instead of the same crap you often see on non-moderated boards where people couldn't care less what gets posted. I happen to believe you guys have much more knowledge beyond tired catch phrases such as "aggy", "whorn", etc. , etc.

Champ and I do care and like doing this, and we're here to stay. We've done it seven years now for fun. We believe we have some of the best posters you will find on the subject of football.
