Gillespie's gone. Let's move forward.

Which direction do you guys think A&M are going to go as far as hiring the new basketball head coach?

Will they hire somebody from the High School ranks?
Will they go hire an NBA assistant?
Any available current College coaches that you would want to see get that job?

Thoughts?

If you went the hs route - the Houston Kingwood coach is impressive - but I would hope a mid-major success might take a look - like Xavier's coach, who looks like Gillespie a little.

Winthrop's Greg Marshall would be a potential candidate imho.

I'd take a coach from Houston or the Metroplex who is able to get DeAndre Johnson to still commit to A&M, and who is able to recruit successfully from those 2 areas. Don't really have to look too far out of those areas for top recruits.

Watch out if they played Memphis again - he and Calipari didn't love each other.

So take a coach for one kid?

I would never hire someone from the HS school ranks immediately.

I say they get a mid major coach

Not just one kid. I also said one who can recruit well out of the Houston and/or Metroplex areas.

But you are correct. A mid major coach would also work.

I wonder if Coach Dodge could make them forget BCG? He's the one that walks on water ain't he?

Well then the Humble Kingwood Coach is perfect...he already recruits the Houston area kids:p

That would truly be impressive. Him winning the Sun Belt, and C-USA in the same year for football...Then win the Big 12 and NC for basketball... Only Lord Dodge.

Hell I wish! He wouldn't even budge at the Kentucky offer.

Well A&M did give them a good run. I want to see something like that again because it gets boring when one school owns the other. I would like to see things balance out.

Mike Jarvis' name should be thrown out there. Seriously, the guy can coach.
