I was planning on going to these relays to support NB Canyon's track team since I am their track manager but the coach said he didn't need me for this meet.

Yeah, the weather is supposed to go crazy tomorrow. Here's the forecast for DFW (more specifically Arlington).
"Saturday: Overcast with rain showers at times. Cold. High around 45F. Winds NNE at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 40%.
Saturday night: Cloudy with rain and snow. Cold. Low around 35F. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precip 60%.
Sunday: Snow showers early. Highs in the mid 40s and lows in the mid 30s."
To think, it was 80 just 2 or 3 days ago.

It's supposed to warm back up Monday and be back in the 70's-80's by Tuesday, so you shouldn't have any problems. If it does snow there shouldn't be any accumulation.

My son is also manager for the Track team and he also was not needed at the Texas Relays. Most teams don't take their managers to this one. I am more interested in early results. Post here if you hear any, 'kay?
thanks

I think he only uses me for the really important meets. This upcoming week, we have the district meet at Clemens and then we have the regional quarterfinals at Canyon so I am pretty sure that I will most likely be needed for these upcoming meets.

Even if nobody else showed up a win is a win. ;)

The Relays this year were cold, wet, and miserable. Many runners and teams dropped out rather than risk an injury to their runners in the horible conditions for a track meet. As we do every year, several of us drove down yesterday morning to watch, but it was not even fun to even be there this year. Good luck to everybody in next week's district meets and perhaps we will get better weather for the state championships in about a month back in Austin.

Check the results. Plenty stayed and competed. I don't pass judgement on whether or not it was a smart move. Many events were cancelled or left uncompleted due to the weather. See DrEdward's post. Cove's events were not played against no opponent. But the relay only shows two finishers, so I guess it was almost a "show up and win"

I did check the results. They did have to beat the others that showed up, I was just saying it wasn't a full house, obviously due to the weather. :D
Kinda reminds me of when I was in high school and our cheerleaders always came back from competitions as 'National Champions'. I asked one of my friends on the team, "How many teams were there?". They said, "Oh there were about 40 teams, but we were the only team in our division." So no matter how they did, they were going to come back as 'National Champions', they just had to 'show up and win'. All of their competitions weren't like that, but I know it happened from time to time.
