Remember when you said Iraq wouldn't show true progress until they voted on Iraqi Idol?

An Iraqi woman, Shadha Hassoun won the Arab Version of American Idol a few days ago!:p

It was in the Sunday Stars and Stripes!:D

Did ya'll catch the bit in the yahoo article about how they celebrated with gunfire after she won. I cannot imagine living somewhere where the jubilation over and "Idol" competition provoked celebratory gunfire.

Perhaps the media is reporting the situation all wrong...the Iraqis aren't angry, they are "celebrating":D

I don't know. After urban operations and a month of training, I asked the instructors in Mississippi if we could celebrate and fire off the rest of our rounds in the air. He said, "No"!:D

Man, depending on what part of Texas you are from, and most certainly into Mexico, you ARE living somewhere where the jubiliation over an "Idol" competition can provoke celebratory gunfire.

At least New Year's, Cinco de Mayo, or Diez y Sies can provoke celebratory gunfire!

A New Years Eve party here in East Texas can provoke celebratory gunfire:D

I've been to some hunting leases, where a particular sporting victory prompted spontaneous celebratory gunfire as well!

Ain't XM grand?

I can't imagine...being in a third-world place...and not being able to pop a few rounds off...

Yeah, we just got done doing urban warfare, was done with training, and just wanted to let off a little steam!:D I was upset because I didn't get to shoot anybody or any bullets for that matter.

All this training turned me into John Wayne!:p We had to zero our rifles yesterday and I only needed the minimum 6 shots since they were all inside the circle on the silhouette target.

I grew up in the valley, that's how some folks ring in the new year, but I can't imagine going off and firing a few rounds just because my guy or gal won American Idol.
