Man, this thread is early.
Basically TWHS is a whole new team. It can go either way. There's good talent there, but not a lot of experience. I'll give you a better review after the Spring session.
But of course you know that.
SV has there whole offense coming back and they did pretty good against the woodlands best defense to ever come through the school last year.the sv defense has some holes to fill on defense but they do every year and year in and year out they find the right kids for the right jobs. they get to fill these them with a team that has a senior class that has lost 3 games since they have been playing together in 5th grade. the thing that his going to win the game for SV I think is the 270 average line and some good running backs.

No fear here. I'm just not gonna brag on a dog that I've never seen fight. The season I worry about starts around week 5, if we get to that point with at least a couple of wins I'll be happy.
The only exception I have to this is where TWCPHS is concerned, I've seen our boys play their boys too many times not to have an opinion. :D

What I loved about last season was that TWCP was under absolutely no pressure to win a game let alone go to the playoffs and come within 7 of going to OT with Klein Forest.
This year, expectations are infinitely higher. Can't help thinking that we got somewhat lucky against Conroe after nearly blowing a 21-6 lead. They'll be better this year if they can ever get their act together. And of course everybody is expecting that we will be able to hang with TWHS this year.
I guess my particular worry comes from the pressure our boys will put on themselves to live up to those expectations.

ok...first of all....klein forest dominated yall and slacked off in the second half.....second off....yall weren't lucky against conroe, you just beat the as*es....(you would've won anyways in ot eventually because conroe hasn't made a fg in over 2 years!)....and i know yall win hang with "teh" woodlands this season because yall basically return everybody and theyre depth is beggining to become greatly affected! (they have to use an ex-conroe guy at rb and possibly even qb, huh....i wouldnt be proud of that!!)

Damn soccer hooligans!!!! But seriously, thanks for the congrats.
I offer my apologies (for what that's worth), and can at least feel good that I know my teenager wasn't involved. It's unfortunate but this sort of thing seems to be getting more common, the F-bomb is becoming just another adjective. I myself have experienced the same thing in other areas, I have a pre-teen daughter and I would prefer not have her over-exposed to vulgar language. When you make a comment/request to these kids to ease up on the language they act as though you're the one out of order.

Ummm. Wrong Woodlands school bud. I wasn't talking about the one Milo and that great defense played for. I was talking about that other Woodlands school full of 'rejects' that played their first season ever in varsity last year.
But since the general consensus is to get back on topic, let me start a sub-topic mainly directed towards svfootball45.
I'm picking The Woodlands to beat SV in a close one.
If the game happened to be between SV and The Woodlands College Park, SV would have absolutely no hope. Are you happy now ? :D

I suppose it's a good thing they don't just give the "W" to the favorite then.
Also, you use the term "backing" incorrectly. I am a huge "backer" of TWHS and I think they can pull out the win. But until I have a chance to see them play together, I'm not going to make any inflamitory predictions for next season.
**Except that we'll beat TWHCP** :D

:D :D You know...In all seriousness, the deafening sound of silence from the TWHS people has me thinking that they believe that this year's team might in fact be better than last year's. For one thing, Milo will be healthy. And the alleged decrease in talent and experience may be overcome by the fact that this group may gel together better as a team.

I have a question for Mr. Kilt Boy. Where does Hector Perez fit in on this team? If he fits in at all. I have watched him since he was at Knox and he seemed to be a real player. What are your thoughts?
As for TWHS beating CP next year, um...... No, the men and lady soccer Cavaliers and the lady baskeball teams have already proven the mighty TWHS as beatable and I feel that the football team has noticed and will come through on the gridiron.

Hector Perez? No clue, have not heard mention of him at any positions.
As for the TWHS beating CP. If you've read any of my post directly addressing this, I've always said it's a toss-up. CavDad should back me on this. If I include :D ;) or  in the post it's just good old fashioned rivalry building. But, why wouldn't I lean to us winning though? If you want to equate wins by soccer and basketball to football, well........................ I don't see the correlation.

I concur. Kilt Boy has called toss-up pretty much everytime he's been asked. As has Midline. He predicted a close one too. I did call 28-10 once but that was just tongue in cheek to provoke a reaction cause the TWHS fans have been awful quiet. But I'm with you guys. It will be a one score game.

Cavalier Dad..
I think you need to give up on the "Woodlands Rejects" thing...yes Woodlands fans started chanting it during the game and its a common name for CP in Highlander Nation..
But I must add..NOT ONE STARTER FOR CP WOULD EVEN TOUCH THE FIELD LAST YEAR AS A HIGHLANDER..
For example..Cham King??
The kid looks like a 7th grader. You think he would see any field in front of Grote, Wyatt, or Mooney??
Don't think so..
Have there been any players from CP signing with BIGTIME schools either??
I highly doubt it..

WHOA !! Easy there pops. That's why it was in quotation marks with a smiley face. I thought it was funny and nothing more. TWHS kids weren't the only ones who were chanting it. But did I take exception to it? Absolutely not. I found it comical and that's as far as it goes. Getting angry about it would only mean that it's true. Believe me. CP kids love their school and absolutely do not feel second rate compared to TWHS.
Nobody at CP takes exception to that kind of trash talking either. I mean, it's a rivalry. You just expect that kind of thing from kids. And I don't recall ever saying that Cham would have replaced Wyatt, Grote or Mooney last year. You really have me baffled as to why you would even single him out. And D1 commits? When did anybody even bring that subject up? Most of our kids were underclassmen.
However since you brought it up, did you see the way you guys finished the season against Westfield and how our kids (including King) finished the season against Klein Forest? It's reasonable to say that CP got better and to tell you the truth, I would love to replay the game against TWHS with the same personnell. For you to suggest that none of our starters would make that great Highlander team is ridiculous at best. I could tell you which of our kids would easily make that team, but that would be disrespecting your players and I'm not about to do that.
A lot of posters on here know that I always cheer for TWHS to do well. Even going as far as defending their players against negative comments about them on this board. Cham King may be small in stature but you know nothing about sports if you even imply that he is inadequate as an all around athlete. If you guys feel that the likes of him are not good enough to make your team, then I'm 100% ok with that. Because we'll take him in a heartbeat.

Last year's result WF 7 KF 6. Was not at the game but I heard KF got smoked by a phantom call and had what would have been the winning TD disallowed. The ORHS game was not going to alter CP's playoff seeding. A lot of the CP starters only played in small spurts.
No question TWHS had a brutal schedule. That is why they went 0-3 against the schools you mentioned.

Exactly how many years away from the older "split" kids have you been watching? Are you familiar with any of them individually or are you judging them based on when 11 men were on the field?
I watched these kids play together through SCFL and in 9th & CP got plenty of the talent pool. Especially the 2 I mentioned in my previous post. Gilmore would have definitely started, the boy is a freak of nature. Balzer would have started at center, I have no doubts.

I would like to add one name to those two. He moved away before the begining of the season. That would be Krisna Wardhana, he would had played DT. In my opinion he would have been quicker and stronger than Gilmore, and I am one of Roberts biggest fans and have been from his Jr. High days. As for Balzer, he would have been at least a 2 year started on the O-Line, and that is coming from the Highlander Coacahes.

I was at that game also and luckily I didn't experience your F-bomb situation. I had my 10-year-old with me and would have said something as well.
Great game, it was like two different games. Klein dominated the first half but couldn't find the net and once the stud went down seemed to lose momentum. TWHS looked fresher as the game wore on.

I will stick with my last post.
Not one CP player would see the field infront of any starters on The Woodlands. And Cav Dad...I do not think you can even compare the talent between Klein Forest and Westfield..
Well, you are right about one thing...CP's play against Klein Forest probably looked great rebounding off a loss to Oak Ridge...
We are talking about the talent of teams here..
Smithson Valley, Katy, North Shore
vs.
Tomball, Katy Morton Ranch, and Huntsville
:)
I wouldn't compare SV and Katy to NS talent..HUGE DIFFERENCE
North Shore has far better athletes then teh woods, Katy, or SV. Dont get me wrong, Katy and SV have talent...Just not on the same level as schools like Ike, WF, and NS... Or Klein forest for that matter.

I think both Katy and SV would have beaten Westfield, NS and KF last year. While they do have the athletes, they do not have the discipline that is necessary to maximize that potential.

well...mens soccer split the series, and The Woodlands made it to the regional finals...basketball has never been a big sport for The Woodlands. As for the remaining sports, The Woodlands has just been flat out dominate...I wouldn't say that CP beating The Woodlands in Lady's Basketball translates to a win on the gridiron.
Maybe not but I can sort of dream a little before the season, cant I? :D

I do not think neither katy nor SV could of beaten WF in Playoff mode.
The notion that they are not disciplined is false. They can out Athlete you, but they don't... They just out play you. Ever since Meekins has step foot on that campus the team has been extremely disciplined... Thats how they were able to beat NS two years in a row. Takes more then Talent to beat a Team like NS...No matter what kind of year they are having.
Now yes... They are WAY to aggressive after the whistle, but i think that has a lot to do with intimidation methods.
Ike is an example of an Undisciplined talent laden team that would lose to both Katy and SV...

I would agree that Katy would have beaten them.
I'm not sure about SV on all 3 but it's possible.
I noticed HUM was saying Westfield is disciplined and it's not true. I saw them play two times last year and in one game, they had about 10 penalties it seemed.
TWHS gave Westfield a fairly close game for more than a half. Take back a breakout run in the first part of the game by WF and it's even closer.

They have their games where they are extremely penalty prone... Then their are games where they virtually go penalty free. When you have that many athletes on the field...Penalties are going to get thrown...Especially when it comes to late hits. They are an extremely aggressive defense.
And TWHS had no shot at beating WF...Not a chance. I have the game on tape.. The woodlands just didn't have the offense or the Fundamentally sound defense to stop a talent laden running game. Teams with good defenses usually can hold WF for about a half...But the game just starts to wear on the defensive starters.
Westfield is extremely well coached and at the skill positions are virtually fundamentally flawless. they are able to out play their opponent instead of just out athlete them.
I respect your opinion... But i see more to Westfield then the Penalties that get thrown.

I know how it is with penalties... trust me (Humble vs. PAM) But bottom line is...if your not good enough to overcome it... Then you don't deserve to continue.
I didn't feel Humble should of advanced. Because despite what i thought were bogus calls, they just couldn't get it done. i thought they were the best team in the state that didn't make the playoffs, but after a while to cool down..thats all they were... And the thing is, that we made key mistakes in the 1st quarter that made it impossible for us to comeback and win with the officiating that we had.
TWHS got outplayed, and didn't deserve to advance.

No question Westfield deserved the victory. But I would not go as far as to say that they would have beaten Katy had they played. The Woodlands offense had problems all year (except against us). So the loss to Westfield was expected.

Here is the thing with Katy. They were young... WF was pretty young as well, BUT Katy didnt put the ball up in the air as much as katy normally does. Running against WF...Regardless of who you are is a tough task to take on.
They would of beat SV without a doubt, katy would of been a close game...But i still give it to WF ONLY because of Katy's lack of experiance at the QB position.

HUM, you are right about Katy being young and it showed early on.
Actually, The Woods outplayed Katy I believe in the second game. If they had not made mistakes, Woods wins. Katy barely got out of that game with a win. The Woods had a good defense but no offense.
Fast forward, the young ones greatly improved. I'm talking 4:1 and their passing attack came around.
This mature version would easily have handled The Woods later and had too much offense to have WF roll over them. WF ran the ball way too much to beat this matured squad. If you could throw on WF last year, you win.

You are right...I don't think the 06-07 WF team could handle a Well schemed Katy. BUT, remember its easier to say your going to throw against what was a very mature Secondary and actually do it.
But i agree with you.. If Katy's Pass would of developed more and they had a little more experience...Then i take Katy 45-21 over WF..
But WF has incredible athletes and coaching.. Comparable if not greater then NS.

I think that they should put more games on tv on the weekends during the season. I am sure that FOX could have two games a week, One in the Dallas Area, One in the Houston area one weekend, and then one from SA/Valley, and one fromout west the next weekend. That would allow more people to see more of the powerhouses around the state. Or ... They could tape delay a couple of games for during the week.

I can help you on the "O"side.
QB - same old toss-up. Eckenrode(sr) (my favorite), makes good decisions but a tad thin. Poarch(sr), bigger but forces thing sometimes. Renton(jr), most athletic but longest shot. I feel bad for who-ever gets the #1 slot, with them all being so close the coach will have a hair trigger.
RB - Milo(sr) is still there, they seem to have him closer to the ball at the snap so hopefully he will be able to hit the holes faster. The line should be better this year so the holes should be bigger. The FB, Demney(sr), is a converted RB. He isn't the prototypical build, he's smaller but very strong. He's as fast or faster than Milo and can catch most anything thrown his way.
WR - Tweedy(jr), Eastman(jr), Schneider(sr). Pretty good speed all-around. Lets see if the QB can get the balls to them. I'd be willing to bet Gullo(sr) see the field also.
TE - Wolf(jr)/Barker(sr) - Wolf was on V last year don't know a lot about ability of either. I think I can count on my fingers the # of passes thrown to the TE last year.
OL - Thompson(sr), Norton(jr), Faw(sr), Neal(sr) and maybe Ray(sr)? Bigger and stronger than last year. We'll have to see what they can do as a unit. Still a chance for someone to step up and take a spot.
Positions I know on "D":
Safeties - Osborne(sr) & Maires(jr). Osborne is the big hitter, runs 4.4 and WILL knock somebody out this year. I worry about that because it could be him as easy as someone else  Maires is a gifted athlete not sure of speed, but he's smart enough to make big plays.
DB's - Not sure
LB's - Probably.....Reno(sr) at M, past that not sure
DE's - Watson(sr) & Flook(jr) maybe.
DT's - Not sure.

I like the Woodlands chances. They put out alot of talent year in and out....just getting it to come together like 2003 is the issue......
Like Sicemhorns09 said after Wellig left it's been a bit of a drop off. Another factor, you now have two schools with College Park..before that it was one big school that was around 4900 in enrollement and before the district change with Lufkin coming in...was handing Westfield and other schools in the area their lunch every friday night.
The point is I think they can hang and even beat SV as they are usually a very physical team on D themselves and overall play a bruising style. Bt if SV get up early 14-, 17-3 type of thing ..then it'll be SV all the way.

That's the one I'm going to. The google map link doesn't work. I had to put the address (10211 West Parmer Lane, Round Rock, Texas 78717) info directly into google maps to get it to work and even then it's hard to find because the satellite image shows it still under construction. I hopped over to Yahoo Maps and entered the info, it went to the center of the Zip code, but you can find the stadium just to the left off of FM 734
This might work, might not:

I figured from the Woodz, go 290 to 35 then go Nth. Must be an exit to W Parmer Ln from 35. There's probably a more direct way. But my sense of direction sucks. So I figured I better stick to main roads.

SV wins this one. I think this early in the year with the Woods having so many new starters they will not be ready to handle SV. Later in the year in might be a game, but not this early.
As to last year, neither team was particularly impressive in the game. SV was clearly better than a very average Woods team. I do think SV got better as the year went on the same really can't be said for the Highlanders. They probably played thier best game of the year the next week against Katy.

Well, it`s real simple. Every 2 years a schedule is made up for a home, and away game, the next year . Or they can meet on a nuetral site like last years alamodome, and an agreed nuetral site the next year, which will be Round Rock this year. Last year SV played Spring at the valley, this year SV travels to Spring.
