Plano's Rex Burkhead was the top RB prospect at the recent Schuman Combine

"At the running back position, the star of the afternoon was sophomore Rex Burkhead of Plano Senior High, who was named the RB MVP. Burkhead, 5-foot-10 and 180-pounds, came into the event as a proven star and did not disappoint as his agility and athletic ability helped him dominate the 1-on-1 portion of the event. He also proved his abilities during the combine events with a 34-inch vertical, 9’7 broad jump, 28 reps at 150-pounds, a 4.28 shuttle, and a 4.61 40 time. He is definitely a superstar in the making."

Hopefully he will be utilized to his full potential the next two years. It sure would be a shame to not see him finish as Plano's all-time rusher, all purpose yards, touchdowns and points scored.

Can someone tell me what the "1 on 1" portion is?

They not only did combine stuff (40, pro-shutttle, vertical, broad, lifting), but they also ran routes (wr vs. db, rb vs. LB, and QB's threw to them)...Rex is a great kid from a great family and will be very highly recruited.

I saw where he popped a 3.94 shuttle time and a 6.83 3-cone time at Scout combine, no wonder he was like a greased pig when East played Plano last year. What position do you think he will play this year? I hope he doesn't play QB against us, after a year of seasoning last year, I would hate to face him at QB again, plus I have seen the kid play baseball and he does have a cannon for a arm.

I cannot believe he is not playing baseball, he played with several of the good kids at East and he would be running circles around everyone at Plano. He is a heck of a shortstop, second baseman, catcher, pitcher and center fielder and can stroke the ball. I just can't believe he is just playing AAU baseball and not high school.

Rex is just a good all around athlete! I saw him tear Carter to shreds in basketball.
