I just wanted to see what schools are returning the most starters and will practically have the same team they had last year but just more experienced.

College Park will return most of their team. They only have to replace a few seniors. The kids that are going to replace them are pretty darn good. Expect big things, Ex, 1st round win, at least.

And that's not counting the QB transfer from Strake, right?

Euless Trinity- we are replacing in alot of areas. We have lost alot, but the replacements have the potential to be better than last year. We have some great returning starters on the line on both sides of the ball.
On offense, we are having about 4 guys battle it out for QB. One of our running backs who started the Southlake game, and saw quite a bit of playing time last year will be back.
Coach Lineweaver give the 2nd and 3rd string alot of playing time last year, so alot of our replacements saw quite a bit of playing time last year.

Grapevine will have 8 starters back on offense and 6 on defense....gives hope to building on to last years playoff win. Should get 2nd in district behind Carroll

Lee was 7-3, and 5-2 in district in 06.

They lost a very close game to Northshore in the first round of the playoffs. I think it was 33-34 or something. They're going to be pretty tough to beat this fall.

Josh Jones is factored into my numbers. Octavio Torres is also back at qb, and he was our starter last year, so either way the starter is back.

Josh at qb
Jarvis Moore at rb
Mahan, Goode and Craft at wr
Garcia, Riley and Rivera at OL
Those are the starters back on offense. Craft, Moore, Garcia and Rivera are two year starters. So, that's 8 back on offense, with another lineman that has seen some spot starts the last two years.

On defense:
Thomas Bates and Reggie Butler are back at safeties
Jesse Luna back at one corner, while Dywaun Deboest graduated at the other corner
Rakim Cleveland, a transfer last year from Dayton only played in the North Shore game, but he was already our best linebacker. He's back
David Hare is back at another linebacker spot.
Fred St Luce graduated at the other spot.
The line is all back. JT Cleveland, Tate Isaac, Sal Ramirez and Zac Zellars.
Zellars can probably play linebacker if need be, because Anthony Gray(second team all district) has transferred over from Sterling and will play defensive end.

I used a little bit of fuzzy math in adding in Gray as a returning starter, but he is second team all district so I think it's appropriate in this case.

I can't envision any scenario in which Lee isn't one of the top 5 teams in the area next year. They just need to find a left tackle, a cornerback and a 4th receiver. Those are the only positions even remotely unsettled right now.

To be honest, I don't have the slightest idea. I've heard that two guys Teu Kautai, and Stetson Smith are looking the best; and seeing the most time in 7 on 7. But, I'm just going on what I've heard. I'm just about positive that none of the QBs saw any Varsity playing time last year.

This will be a huge key for Trinity this year as far as whether or not they can contend for a title. We all know the running game won't be a problem with Robinson and Baker.

If Trinity's able to have the balance in 2007 that Vittatoe provided in 2004 and 2005 then they will be extremely tough to beat.

Against Carroll, Trinity penetrated the redzone three times in the first half and came away with no points. They didn't appear to have much of a passing game aside from throwing it up to King every now and then. When things tighten up in the redzone, you have to be able to pull the string a little bit and throw the defense off.

The balance Vittatoe gave the Trojans in 2004/2005 made their offense nearly unstoppable. The maturity of Kautai and/or Smith will be a huge key for Trinity this season. They will be juniors this fall.

Lesse...for Abilene these guys saw pretty significant playing time. AD denotes all district.
Offense:
OG Wyatt Martinez (AD)
TE Matt Carroll (AD)
OG Hunter Hettich
OT Sterling Beard
QB Spens Lackey (AD)
QB Stephen Warren
RB Keithy Flye
WR Troy Tarrant
WR Kortney McDow (AD)
WR J.J. James (AD)
WR Ben Wadsworth

Defense:
ILB Chris Williams (AD)
ILB Chris Mitchell
OLB Mark Weaver (AD)
CB Jordan Harris
DL Andre Davis
DL Brandon Rogers
DL Josh Hardcastle (played most of the year on the O-line).

So, really, that's about 18 returning full and part time starters right there.

Im excited to see them play. Our district is very tough on the offensive part of the ball, and all the defenses for the most part (with the exception of kingwood. who runs the triple option...But they take up alot of clock so it works out for them) are extremely fast. Should be fun.

I expect Atascocita to make alot of noise this year. Perhaps even a playoff spot. They have all starters back, and have some heavy talent on the defensive side of the ball and on special teams. Their pretty quick, but im just wondering if the team can execute fundementals in order to stay in the games... That was by far their biggest problem.

Do you think the district is going to go unsettled until the last couple weeks like it did this past season. I think it says alot about the type of competition that 21-5a has. If you love offense, you'll love 21-5a.:D

.
Im not sure what the UIL's count was for all the other schools but i know that Kingwood was sitting at 3200 and Humble took a huge hit from the split and fell from 4533 to 2905. But our numbers are expected to climb back up due to the surge of growth we are experiancing..In fact all Humble isd HS with the exception of Quest and Kingwood Park will be a min. 3200 kids. (summerwood, Atascocita, and Humble)

Lee is smaller by 400 kids i think. But i think they are getting moved to 4a after they take that hit from the new Baytown school

21-5a Ranking:
Kingwood* 1
Humble* 2
sterling
Atascocita
Lee
Westbrook
PAM

Kingwood - 3206
Humble - 2905
Sterling - 2781
Atascocita - 2567
Lee - 2547
West Brook - 2422
PAM - 2410
Channelview - 2104

Those numbers are straight from Dave Campbell's Texas football.

I think Kingwood and Humble both make the playoffs. I don't think PAM will make it this year. They lost too much. Davon Lewis and Barry Valcin were pretty much the whole team for PAM last year. Take Lewis off the team and they probably end up 1-6 in district. I'll give Brown the benefit of the doubt and assume he gets a little better. I could see PAM beating a few teams, but I see them going 3-4 at best this upcoming year.

I think it will end up like this:
Lee 6-1
West Brook 6-1
Humble 5-2
Kingwood 4-3
Sterling 3-4
Atascocita 2-5
Channelview 1-6
PAM 1-6

In 21-5a their about 5 teams that can go into a scoring contest with lee. Its just about who gets more breaks.

I think they can go untouched, but after last year i can understand why he would side with caution on his prediction.

I think Lee is the best team in the district. I also know that on any given Friday, anything can happen with a bunch of 17 and 18 year olds. I think any of three teams could conceivably beat Lee if the Ganders have an off night. West Brook, Humble or Kingwood. West Brook because they have the two great running backs. The game should be in Beaumont, and I never trust having to go to the Golden Triangle and getting a completely fair shake. The Humble game will be in Humble, and they have enough athletes to give Lee some problems. Kingwood, with that offense, could get up early and just drain the clock if Lee can't stop them.

I don't think Sterling, PAM, Channelview or Atascocita can beat Lee.

I just tend to think in terms of worst case scenario. I don't really think that Lee should lost to any of the teams in our district, but I just know how tough it can be to beat all of the teams on the schedule.

I honestly think they go undefeated, but they do have at least 1 or 2 close calls.

Lee in my opinion is in the 3-5 area in the Area rankings. and def. a top 15 team in the state. They just have so much offensive power.... really, its mind boggling that they can get any better.

Westbrook is going to have a pretty difficult team to stop, but they are going to have to figure out how to score on Humble. Humble has always been very good at stopping the run. They have the athletes to Slow C. Micheal's down. But i still think Westbrook pulls away with this one in a close one. i just hope they have a better QB if they intend to beat Humble
