from what i hear a proposal was brought before the coaches association. they are looking at splitting the big schools and small schools up. this will change most or maybe all disrticts up,depending on the enrollment. i hear its talk of a six team disrtict with maybe only 2 teams advancing to the playoffs. i think the cut off for enrollment is around 2250. this just goes for football. all other sports will stay as is.

i hope this want pass because lee and jt wlll have to play each other in non district instead of district. lufkin will atleaast be coming back for sure. but all will be there without lee because they have 2250 enrollment atleast. so they will most likely go to a dallas district. man!!!!!!!! dont passs this proposal please. just keep east texas like it is plus lufkin and we will be fine.

The Tyler paper this morning said the cutoff would be 2,500. Anyway, REL would be the odd man out. JT woould still play the same teams in this alignment. It sounds nuts because alot of schools will be broken up in alot of districts.

Got a link to some of the details? This would throw a wrench in our area!

Guys, if you think about it something has to be done to shorten the season or the championship games will be played in January. Or else the first games will be played before school starts now that we all start on the last Monday in August. With 6 teams in a District, I would bet they also shorten the number of non-district games to gain 2 or 3 weeks for playoff time and still end the season mid-December.

Just food for thought.

Hmmm....

How would 2-5A and 3-5A look?

All the 2-5A schools except Central would be in Division II
The 3-5A schools would leave out Abilene and Cooper...but would only have Permian, Lee, Odessa High, Midland High, and Central.

What would the cutoff be for the lower division?

If the cutoff for the lower is 1,800 or so, then 2-5A would have Lubbock, Monterey, Coronado, Amarillo, Palo Duro, Tascosa (maybe Caprock if enrollment grows and even Plainview).

Abilene High might be a squeaker. Their last number was 2478. So then we exchange SACentral for Cooper? Then, there are the EP schools - 4 would qualifiy for big school and five small. They also have one on the bubble - EP Coronado.

this doesnt make any sense, there could be a school down the street but they wouldnt be in our football district schedule based on there enrollment numbers? the thought of another realignment of districts/schedules based on this gives me a headache

yea, i know thats how it is here in tyler. lee and john tyler are about 10 minutes apart. they are lookin at having to play each other in non-distict. we dont want that here at all. i am against the proposal unless they can find away to keep all east texas 5a in the same district.

I'm not sure I see the point in doing this.

To have 6 team districts for both divisions would reduce 5A to about 192 schools. So basically there would be 53 schools dropping to 4A. Not big fan of this. I like the ratio of 3-4 schools per district advancing to playoffs. It mgiht make the playoffs a week shorter for about 2 schools, yet we will still have two champions. Leave it the way it is.

I say that they leave it like it is, except for the 2 division champs to play the next week.

the UIL wont pass this simply because it doesnt even make sense to them.

This was a PROPOSAL. not an idea they were actually considering. i can make a proposal to say that all fans must wear G-strings thongs to attend a football game, but it doesn't make it probable or even close to being accepted.

Plus it doesnt screw us over enough to be a real UIL consideration.

I wonder if we would still play Keller Central????

I don't think you'd be able to align something like that. It all goes fine until you hit Regions 3 and 4. That's the big stumbling block for a 6A right now. There are pockets of the state where alignment would have to get a little ridiculous in order to make things work...such as having schools like La Joya or Los Fresnos be with Corpus or San Antonio district for example. West Texas and East Texas also present challenges for that as they also do in the current alignment.

no thats to much trouble. its hard enought for bot divsion champs just getting there. them playin each other just ruins the good feeling one of them worked so hard to get. i say the 2 champs play each other the first game of the season the following year, if the fans want to see it bad enough. plus, the district winners should have a bye week. the champs should stay like it is 2 champs. its just to many teaMS to have one champ.

The two playing each other the next year would be a great draw for fans, but it would not prove who had the best team the year before. Such as the two div. winners of this year.

i rather argue who has the best team . just like i said its to many teams to have one champ. let them play the first game of the season. aleast you can decide who is #1 now out of those teams.

How? What about the graduating players from the prior season? I would rather see them play the last game since it would matter the most.

If for some way this were to happen, I wouldn't even want to begin to think of what would happen to Lufkin. It's about time that Marshall and Nacogdoches moved back up.

Do not underestimate the power of stupidity in the UIL.

Harlingen, Harlingen South, and San Benito made the trek across the King Ranch to play Corpus Christi schools for 2 years in 2000-2001. No one wants to see that again.

i dont care about the graduating players cause i said i wouldnt want the 2 chAMPS TO PLAY because it takes away to much from the loosing team. let them play to start the season off the next year. then prove who is #1 to the current year out of those 2 teams.

that happens all the time in suburbs of metroplexes. katy is pretty close to brookshire(4 miles) and one is 2a and the other 5a. its already more common than you think.

What is that...200 MILES!!!

Dang...that does suck.

No one beats San Angelo to Amarillo though...310 miles for a district game! Same for Amarillo ISD schools to San Angelo.

SAISD and probably even AISD are hoping that Palo Duro grows to 5A in next realignment. The trip for Lubbock ISD schools to San Angelo ain't exactly around the block (190+ miles).

A little bit less...probably closer to 150. And yes, it dis suck.

It sounds ridiculous to complain about anything though when poor San Angelo has to travel to Amarillo.
