Apparently theres been a massive renovation goin on the North end to build a new press box and such. i tried to find concept drawings of the finished product to no avail and all i have are the recent construction photos from MB-TF.com to go by. anyone else have any better luck?

They had some photos of how it's suppose to look on the Texas football website.
I think it's going to look awesome when completed and really add a great "homefield" advantage to the Horns. I never liked how the North Endzone seemed like it was 100 miles away from the field.
I think they're going to leave the South endzone stands on the field also.

Depends. When The University announced the expansion, the increased capacity was going to be a little over 90,000. However, that figure did not include the bleachers that were added to the South endzone last year (the ones under Godzillatron). There were 4,000 seats there last year and there will be 7,000 this year to help hold some displaced season ticket holders. Now, anyone that knows Deloss Dodds knows that if he can make a little more money, he will and those South endzone bleachers = more money so jtk expects they will stay after the expansion is complete. If so, that would bring the official capacity up to about 97,000.
Now, consider this. The official capacity for DKR last year was 85,000. The average attendance per game last year was 88,505 or about 104% capacity which is right since Texas has been averaging well over 100% capacity for several years now. If that trend continues with a stadium that has a capacity of 97,000, we can guesstimate that average game attendance will be somewhere around 101,000. Regardless, there should be several 100k+ games a year.

You also have to take into account the folks that tailgate outside the stadium and don't have tickets. That's a ton of folks...
Man I can't wait until September.

Good thing that one and one with tOSU is over. That place was a madhouse last year. I can only imagine 20k more people.

Thats a lot of people. By my guess that would make it what the 4th largest on campus stadium in America? or 5th?

They need a statue of VY somewhere - maybe hovering over-head.

An alum friend of mine told me they are planning on keeping the stands up for a couple of seasons in the South Endzone and they may eventually build some type of permanent structure down there if they get a good design.
Seeing over a 100,000 in that stadium would be pretty cool.

There will be some more big games. The first official season after the expansion will see the sister banging, trailer trash, pigs come to Austin and two years after that UCLA visits. That akrisaw game will draw a HUGE crowd.

Farmerfan and the Athens chamber of commerce would gladly welcomethe BOB and MWLF to Sanford for a game this fall.
Ok maybe not the chamber of commerce but farmer would nonetheless.

The MWLF would love nothing more than to make a cross country trip to watch the Dawgs, but unfortunately the MWLF's graduate professors might have something to say about that......
We shall see what works out.

In all seriousness, the planned expansion of DKR is going to turn it into one of the premier stadiums in the country. The MWLF loves Kyle Field, but wishes the university would have purtied it up a bit. The MWLF approves of the architecture at the planned DKR expansion...
Now if it just weren't by an interstate, it would be close to number one...But the MWLF has to award the "prettiest setting" trophy to the University of Washington:

jtk has always wished DKR had been built on the shores of Town Lake instead, but there is no substitute for an on campus stadium. What a sight that would be. In 20 or so years from now when the stadium expansion is finally completed, DKR will look a lot like Tennessee's Neyland Stadium but with a nicer exterior.

If there was a chance at getting Threadgills to open up a branch......man, it would be awesome.

Boy it must be nice to have an unlimited athletic budget and hundreds of millions available in a few phone calls from alumni.
The renovations/expansions taking place down in Austin between DKR and Disch are impressive!
