Say NFL aggy and the Redskins have a deal worked out to swap draft picks on draft day. NFL aggy moving up 2 spots to take the skins #6, presumably to get Brady Quinn before the Vikings who have the #7 pick. jtk just shakes his head.

The Texans don't need a qb or rb - they are set there just fine. Carr will be all world in '07, and Green will return to pro bowl form.
I see the Texans in the Super Bowl next year.

oh wait. just to clear things up, i am a vikings fan. i agree that the texans need an o-line. i've been saying that from the beginning. the vikings need better recievers and a defensive end, but brady quinn would also help to back up Tarvaris Jackson. right now the back up is brooks bollinger, who sucks. i know the vikings are not the most respected franchise, but they are not dumb enough to pass up brady quinn. i know Gaines Adams will be gone by the seventh pick, and Jamaal Anderson might be gone too, so the only logical pick for the vikings would be Brady Quinn or Adrian Peterson if they are still there. the only other defensive end that i like is Adam Carriker, but i think our pick is too high for him.

okay well i have been thinking about this for a few days now, and this is what i've decided. for the last few years, the vikings have not made a big deal or sometimes even talked about who they want in the draft. they usually fake us all out by talking to somebody and then surprising us in the last minute of their first round pick. (stresses me out every year) for example, two years ago all the talk was about Mike Williams. i had all of my research done on him, and i was ready to purchase the jersey, when the good ol' vikes pulled Troy Williamson out of nowhere.
so where im getting at with this is...
i think the Vikings are saying that they are interested in Brady Quinn so they can really get Gaines Adams or Jamaal Anderson. Washington was sure to take one of those two at the #6 pick, so if Houston moves to that pick and takes Brady Quinn, the Vikings would be able to get one of them before Washington at the #8 pick. and of course they would pull this on Houston, because they're obviously the only team dumb enough to give up a #8 pick for Brady Quinn when they need other things first. :)
does that make any sense?

But when Bud took the Oilers out of Houston, Pro football went down Braes Bayou and it aint ever comin back. Its doomed. Might as well pick some local high school teams to root for and hope the Owls or the Cougars have something to watch on saturday because Sunday is for Golf or Fishing in The Space City. I've always been a Cowboy fan.
I started with them the first year and watched the down times.
I am a fan of Bum though and Earl. I rooted for the Oilers as long as they weren't playing the Boys.
I remember when I first moved to the Houston area, I was in a little restaurant/club and there was a live band. The leader asked if there were any Cowboy fans and of course I stood up and let out a yell. He said, "there's always gotta be one" :D
The Boys and the Oilers were playing the next day too.

Building a stellar defense may not sell as many tickets but it will win you a Super Bowl with or without a stud quarterback. Ask Tampa Bay and Baltimore about that.
A defense with DeMeco Ryans, Mario Williams, Dunta Robinson, and possibly LaRon Landry would be a great young nucleus for many years.
I'd rather have Joe Thomas but we'd need to pick 3rd or 4th to get him. Look for them to pick up two OL's in the second and third rounds.
I don't want to invest in an injury-prone Adrian Peterson with our OL. I'd rather just use up Ahman Green until we have a more reliable OL.

After signing black they will def. not take OL in the 1st or 2nd round. I think they will get the best player at the position (hopefully the new GM doesnt let Kubiaggy f this up) and then take a QB/DB in the second.. Depending on who they pick in the 1st.. If they go with a AD in the first, they will go for a CB in the second... If they go for Landry in the first its a QB in the second. OL will probably be picked up in the later round 3rd or 4th.. They pretty much have the OL set for next year.

Amen to that. I am torn here because on one side I would never want a ME first player like Moss on the other side having a guy like Moss would really change our offense. Think about it, Right now Johnson is the only guy who would ever draw double coverage, but with Moss on the field we have two receivers who at any given time will need to be double covered or at least for a majority of the time. It opens up the running game a bit and takes the pressure off the QB.

Nope, Carr stays here. Now we can either build depth at the QB spot (which is not likely since we are giving up so much for Schaub) or we can trade Carr. As much as I like Carr as a person, as a Texans fan I would love to see what we can get for him.

Dada, I dont mean to be a SOB, but it doesn't say in there that Carr goes to Atlanta, it just says that the trade means that "the Texans have ostensibly conceded that five-year veteran David Carr, the top overall player chosen in the 2002 draft and a quarterback in whom Houston has invested considerable time and money, is no longer their quarterback of the future." - ESPN

Same here. In fact if the Texans make a deal with Oakland to trade Carr for Moss, when the dust settles we will have ended up looking the best from all the trades.
We get Moss and Schaub and give up Carr, a 2007 2nd round, and 2008 2nd round pick. We also give up the number 8 overall pick for the number 10 pick. Best case scenario right there.

I think the Raiders might trade for Carr in order to avoid losing him to Miami. Two teams still need a QB(Oakland and Miami). If one can rework his contract then the Texans might be able to make a deal.
If it is Carr for Moss, I look for the Texans to turn around and trade Moss to Green Bay. Historically McNair has not gambled on any players with a questionable reputation.

I'm just not much of a "chicken little" type guy. That attitude is for *******. The Texans fan base has enough of those.
I'm ready to judge this regime starting this offseason. Last offseason pre-draft was still up in the air as to who was running the team, and last season's squad was not really all what Kubiak and the GM Smith wanted (well with the exception of Carr). Now with this full offseason with Rick Smith and Co., I'm ready to evaluate this leadership. We'll see what happens next year.
