Free agent RB Dominic Rhodes reached agreement Friday morning on a two-year, $7.5 million contract with the Oakland Raiders.
Hopefully he does well with them. I do think he is a legit NFL caliber "RB" even though he has had people knock him in the past.

i thought he had a good chance of going to the giants...that's 2 good primetime running backs come and gone (3 if you count jamal lewis). there can't be much left out there.

jtk is shedding a few tears. However, it's big for Dom. jtk thinks his last contract was in the $1-2 million range so this is a nice little raise.

I like it. Jordan/Rhodes backfield will work for me. Plus Oakland got FA FB Justin Griffith from Atlanta.

Lately, instead of being grave robbers, the Raiders have been a graveyard for talent... I wish Rhodes well.
I think he never got the credit he deserved in Indy, and Addai's development pushed Dom out the door. It's the nature of the bidness, but you still get attached to certain players. Personally, i like watching him run, because he seems to run harder into the hole than most. Hopefully, Oakland's line will continue to improve and provide some lanes for Rhodes to run in.

I'll never forget him taking over that 4th qtr. against the Ravens - and he just kept running hard through the SB - good for Dom!

Two really good NFL RB's have come out of the West Texas district in recent years (Dom. Rhodes and Cedric Benson). Who do y'all think is the "legit" better RB ?
I know Benson has 20X more "press" over the years but when it's all said and done who is better? Rhodes or Benson ?

I guess both of them will have their real chance to shine this upcoming year.

I agree with Jakers, this year they'll both get their chance to " Be the Man."
should be interesting.

Benson and it's not really close and jtk says that as somebody who went to school with Rhodes. Dom is a 5'9 208 pound scat back that lost his scat after his first ACL injury. He's now a 5'9 208 power back without a ton of power. jtk does credit him for changing his running style. For all of his career, Dom has always been a speed back with incredible moves, but multiple knee injuries took away his speed and he responded by improving his overall game and becoming a different style of runner. He's now a great blocker and receiver and he's now the guy that will drop his pads and pop a LB.

I'm not so sure it will be. Yes for Benson, but Dom is going to be sharing the rock once again with someone else. Only this time it's Lamont Jordan.

if Rhodes doesn't beat out Jordan, then we have a distinctive answer too

I cant see Rhodes losing a starting job to Jordan. I got to see Rhodes twice in High school (vs Abilene and Austin Westlake) and I thought he had some bigtime skills.
I think if he would of been able to play at Texas Tech he would of made himself into a 1st Day NFL draft pick. Probably like a 3rd Rounder.
I find his NFL career being very similiar to Priest Holmes. Both have recovered from major knee injuries a couple of times and both are (1,000 yard caliber backs). Hell, both have similiar builds also (5-10/200ish) range.
Both were NFL free-agents and both played in the Texas 5A State Title game and "Lost." Odessa Permian & Austin Westlake.
I do think if Dom. Rhodes were able to play an entire 16 games. He could be at least a (1,500 ,15-20 tds).
Benson I think has worked himself into being pretty much a "Power" type of back that isnt really going to break many runs (15 yard plus) but he'll be able to pound out those 4 & 5 yard runs most of the game.
I think Benson in 16 games would be more like (1,300 rushing, 20 tds).
