they r having a great season as this is there frst season in a conferance (since the team started they played as independant)...how many ppl believe that they will get in the tourney and if so what would they be a 15 or 16 seed in the tourney...this is all things that would happe if they dont win conferance tourney...

That's just the reality of life in the Southland Conference, there is no chance that the Southland will get two teams into the tournament. TAMU-CC has zero quality wins, sure they might have a good record, but they lost every game in which they played a major conference team.

Between TAMU-CC and Sam Houston State, whoever loses the conference tourney could get an NIT bid. That's the best for which they could hope.

im from corpus so i love the islanders and yes they both r havin a good season...i do believe they lost by 1 or 2 pts to a ranked team which is pretty good....i just hope that my hometown team can make it big this yr

I just saw there is a new rule this year. The regular season champion of any Division I conference gets an automatic bid to the NIT, if they don't earn a bid to the NCAA tournament. So the winner of tonight's game between TAMU-CC and Sam Houston State is guaranteed no worse than a trip to the NIT.

The winner of the Conference Tournament gets the NCAA tournament automatic bid.

This new rule is just for the regular season champion because there were a lot of teams that would dominate their conference in the regular season, have a bad night, get knocked out of the conference tournament and miss post-season play. This guarantees that if the regular season champion loses in the conference tournament, they'll at least get to keep playing somewhere.

TAMU-CC beat Sam Houston State tonight 85 - 68. They will probably meet up again in the conference tournament. This win guarantees the Islanders at least a spot in the NIT. If they win the conference tournament they'll be going to the Big Dance instead.
