What is this NFL Network you speak of? Being a Time Warner Cable Customer I had no idea such a channel still existed. Though as a Comcast customer I enjoyed watching said channel, before the dark times and the oppression of the Imperial Time Warner.

WR Calvin Johnson weighed in at 239 pounds and his strength and speed coach (the guy that was Deion Sanders' speed coach), said Johnson has been running in the 4.3s.
QB Jamarcus Russell measured 6'5 265
The big talk today is that Texas OG Justin Blalock and Tech OG Manny Ramirez both did 40 reps at the bench press. Those are Larry Allen type numbers.

I think Manny Ramirez is going to make a very good NFL lineman. Of coarse I think Blalock is going to also.

Has Calvin Johnson made his decision as to whether he will run the 40 at the combine or wait till the March 15 pro day.?

I have not heard anything to suggest he will not run. Ted Ginn wont run because he's still not healthy (that and Ohio State has a fast track notorious for taking .05 seconds off a 40) and Dwayne Jarrett will not run because he is an idiot that has no desire to be drafted in the ifrst round.
I do know EOD Peterson and Marshawn Lynch are both supposed to run.

I hope Johnson does run. I wonder if at 239 pounds will he time a 4.3 like his speed coach says.

Last year, Vernon Davis ran in the 4.3s at 260+. The year before, Matt Jones ran in the 4.3s at 6'6 242. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Johnson run in the 4.3s. I don't know if it will be a 4.33 like his speed coach says, but it should be close.

Troy Smith, Dwayne Jarrett and Tony Hunt will not run. I just don't understand that. I can see a top 10 type prospect not wanting to hurt their stick, but Smith, Jarrett and Hunt are all on shaky ground or falling already. This is only going to hurt.

He officially measured 5'11 178. Garret Wolfe, the 5'7 RB from Illinois St. is bigger than Ginn. Ginn was the second smallest player weighed.
I think Ginn could be a lot like another small Ohio State receiver... Santonio Holmes, who measure 5'11 190 or so. He ended up going last year at the very end of the first round to the Steelers and the only reason they took him is because they already had a #1 WR in Ward. I could see Ginn going early, but only to a team that already has a legit #1 receiver.

what a stud....
Jason Hill
Height: 6-1 | Weight: 210 | 40-Time: 4.55
Strengths:
Has good size with a strong, solid build...Runs good routes and just knows how to get open...Physical and knows how to use his body...Was extremely productive and a big play threat...Hands are big and reliable...Good body control and adjusts well to poorly thrown balls...Natural athlete with good quickness who plays faster than he times...Agile and elusive in the open field...Has a nose for the endzone.
Weaknesses:
Timed speed is only average at best (not any more, it isn't) and he will have a considerably tougher time separating from pro corners...His concentration and focus have been an issue at times...Has trouble beating the jam at the line...Is only an average blocker...Fell of as a senior and did not have the great final campaign that most were expecting.
but he ran a 4.32??? He just got some major dough.

Meachem is definitely one of the gems at WR in this class. I saw most draft boards had him rated as the 6th-10th best WR, and I knew that would change. Meachem is awesome, but never had the consistency from his QBs to put up big numbers.

Why does it matter if a RB can jump??
It's a measure of explosiveness. You'll notice a lot of times that the RBs posting the best 40 times, are often posting the best verticals. That's because to run a good 40, you have to have a good initial burst and the vertical can help signal the amount of burst a RB has.

Some people the Redskins are looking at are: Alan Branch (DT), Jamaal Anderson (DE), Adam Gaines (DE), Calvin Johnson (WR), Blalock (G).
Those are off the top of my head. The Skins need help along the line, they will most likely get a DE while I really hope they picked up Alan Branch. But, if Calvin Johnson is around at #6 I really hope they pick him up. As for Blalock, they're looking at him in case they don't resign Derrick Dockery.

Higgins is a good kid. I saw him play a couple of times at Sweeny and I talked to one of his former coaches. He is a good character dude that works out hard. He used to workout everyday after school on his own time and would always be on the track doing "self track workouts."
I think he is going to be a solid NFL WR and be one of these sleeper type of players.

I've been following Fairooz for a while. A very interesting prospect. He's done very well, but not as good as some were speculating. He measured 6'6 209 and ran a 4.51 with a 36" vertical. I was really hoping he would be more like Matt Jones and weigh in closer to 230 because 209 at 6'6 is really skinny. There was also some speculation that he would run in the 4.4s. I think he could be another Marques Colston... a big late round receiver capable of making an early impact.

Adam Carriker from Nebraska. I haven't seen any times posted for him yet so he may not even be running, but he is huge. weighed in a 6'6 296 and did 33 reps on the bench press.
Both Texas DEs have been very impressive. Crowder measured 6'4 272 and ran a sub-4.7 with 32 reps and a very good shuttle time. Robison measure 6'3 259 with a 4.67 40 and a freakish 40.5 inch vertical.

I had to go look at the numbers, but Robison absolutely killed at the combine. He finished tops in his group in every single category except for the 20 yard shuttle where he came in 2nd. He had the 3rd fastest 40 among all D-linemen and his vertical was 6 inches better than 2nd place in his group. His 3 cone time murdered as he was the only one top post a sub-7 second time, and he did well in the bench press. He looks to me like he's projecting to weak side DE in the NFL (he played strong side at Texas) with those crazy numbers. He may even wind up as an OLB in a 3-4 scheme.

The Texas DBs killed today. I was thinking Michael Griffin would run in the 4.5s... not bad for a safety. Everybody thought Aaron Ross was slow though and some expected him to run in the 4.6s. I pegged him as a high 4.4 guy with Tarell Brown would run a little lower.
Official results...
Aaron Ross - 4.44
Tarell Brown - 4.45
Michael Griffin - 4.45
And all posted great shuttle and 3 cone times. This was a tremendous year for Texas guys at the combine.
