I should've been a Longhorn!

I should've been a Longhorn...instead of what I was.
A tradition of excellence held to a standard, from the one who rests above.

I should've been a Longhorn...think of names like Campbell and Royal and Vince and Ricky, too.
The mention of a certain Shootout - won more by Burnt Orange - loudly sung so true.

I should've been a Longhorn...instead of anything but.
My mom and dad should've shot my a.s, not allowing my life to run a'muck.

I should've been a Longhorn...tears streaming with dark orange lace.
I could forever shout the victories, with Bevo painted on my face.

I should've been a Longhorn...surely it would've meant good luck.
Yelling, "Hook'em Horns!", while I step on gas, running down the nearest Sooner with a Mack Truck.

I should've been a Longhorn...now I know this to be right.
To the end of time I'll think "Go Burnt Orange!", don't stop...lets fight the very last fight.
