i dont mind honest hard working ones trying to make it i just hate these freeloaders who live off of welfare alot of them come in and get so privllaged many people who need it more than they do don't recieve it.

Take note many college students don't get grants or scholarships cause you know who is hogging the money and drop out the very next day after that college refund check comes in.

back on track here. team USA is really playing well i am very impressed. our defense is playing outstanding but we are giving up too many corners. offensive gameplan is great. and like ive been saying since before the world cup, tim howard is the best american keeper.

Man...that was great!

Awesome corner kick and even better header to knock in the first goal!

Wooooooo!!!!!

:D

Yeah...Mexico forgot to shake hands and exchange jerseys, AGAIN!!! Obviously, Mexico didn't do this on purpose. Plus, the goale wasn't trying to throw in a cheap shot. Noooo. He lost his footing and only stuck his foot out to try to stop his progress--remember the field was supposedly real slick all game. A U.S. player (was it Eddie Johnson?) just happened to be in the same vicinity.

Why so bitter, Mexico? I mean...it's just a game right? Hell, that loss against the U.S. in the World Cup happened years ago!

Just let it go.

:p

Eh, maybe not. I kind of enjoy this bitter rivalry.

Pretty much. Look at the cheap shot their goalie took at the end of the game. Look at the bags of piss they throw on our players when they play at Azteca. The care for Americans like we care for sewer rats. It's just too "un-PC" to hate them like they hate us.

Marquez played the whole game. Mexico brought their A+ team. They couldn't have fielded a stronger side. It was clear Sanchez wanted to make this a statement game in his young tenure as Mexican coach, and it backfired rather spectacularly. The Mexican press will have a field day I'm sure.

The US fielded a largely domestic based B team. The few European field players who did play were short of form. Convey and Dempsey were about 50% of what they normally are fitness wise. Our best defender, Oguchi Onyewu, stayed in England with his new club Newcastle.

Tactically, I thought the Mexicans were sharper but they didn't finish anything. It was very similar to the other matches we've played against them. I didn't like our forward line pairing of Rolfe and Donovan. Rolfe isn't ready for this level of play in my opinion. Eddie Johnson or Taylor Twellman would have been a much better choice for a Mexico game.

Anyway, it was pretty amazing to watch that understrength US team withstand the Mexican storm on goal. For most of the second half, Mexico had 4 strikers on the pitch so it was a great effort to keep them out of our goal.

both teams were out of sync the first half... niether could amount any sort of attack because neither could hold possession of the ball.... much of the lost possessions were due to poor passing and bad timing... you could tell that these two teams werent in world cup form so for me that first half was a little dissapointing. However, it was the same for both teams....

mexico had a good left side... that #10 i believe.. was making everything happen on that left side... he was the one with the really curly hair ... he was GOOD...... and yes dempsey and convey were not in the best shape, but that is understandable... it was good to see ricardo clark of the dynamo out there as well... he played ok... i dont think he starts the attack all that well... hes more of a slow it down keep possession sort of defensive mid... hes fast... id like to see him take it up the middle and distribute to ppl like dempsey and convey and donovan...make the defense react to him instead of the other way around.... i though conrad played outstanding... he was the heart of the defense and that other one.. i cant recall his name...but played defender on the left side... hes young... but extremely talented.... i thought the defense had some lapses..but overall.. they stood thier ground and played well....donovans goal had much to do with luck.....if not for it richocheting off the referee.. it wouldnt have happened.. but hey.. thats how it goes.... all in all.. good win for the US...they deserved it... they put away thier chances...and played good enough defense for the deserved win....

Some friends of mine went to watch US vs. Mexico at the Cotton Bowl a few years ago and came back with nothing but horror stories. Mexican fans publicly urinating on the American flag, throwing food, beer and everything else they could get their hands on. US won that game in stoppage time and they said it was like a war zone.

I see what you're saying, but

Mexican soccer fan population > KKK population numbers in the US

It's a mild comparison, but no really apples to apples.

Technically, there are quite a few things American players can learn from the Mexicans.

Their ability to play the ball in tight spaces and just their comfort on the ball all together are far advanced over that of the average American player in my opinion.

We don't have a defined style yet as Americans, but tend to resemble England in that we want to play a lot of one touch soccer and play long balls rather than really concentrate on methodical possession like an Argentina, Holland or Mexico.

I think maybe the most effective strategy when playing against the US is to stay back defensively, and force us to build attacks. Make the Americans take the initiative rather than allow them to sit back and hit counters (see Czech Republic World Cup match). Mexico has yet to understand this. They are always very attack minded against the US, and it plays into our hands. We wait for the mistakes and then punish them.
