2. To Have and have not
Real sexual tension between a 40+ year old Bogart and a 19 year old Becall
Written by Hemingway and Faulkner
"You know how to whistle dont you Steve?"
3. Giant
Some young punk STOLE THE SHOW from Elizebeth Taylor and Rock Hudson
4.To Kill A Mockingbird
5. Shane
"Tell your Mother there are no more guns in the valley";)

I could go on and on

To Kill A Mockingbird (the BEST ever)
North By Northwest (Cary Grant = HOT!)
Pillow Talk (or anything with Doris Day)
Yours Mine and Ours (Lucy was classic in the drunk scene)
Key Largo (set in one room during a hurricane - awesome movie)
Young Frankenstein (need I say more - Gene Wilder is GREAT)
The Magnificent Seven (love the musical score)
The Dirty Dozen (How can you not like this one!)
Gone With The Wind (I am descended from the Wilkes Family of Georgia and South Carolina so this one has a special place for me:) ).
Psycho (any Hitchcock film is worth mentioning but this one is classic)
Stalag 13 (Hogan's Heroes on film)
Pride of The Yankees (I cry every time)
Old Yeller (I cry as soon as I see the dog!!)
Help!, Hard Day's Night and Let It Be (I think if you know me, this goes without saying!!).

"the searchers" john wayne classic, ethan had a heart, he just didnt know how to show it...inspiration to buddy holly's "that'll be the day".

"the good, the bad, and the ugly" last of the 3 spagetti westerns with clint eastwood, and the best of the 3, though the first 2..not bad!

"the outlaw josey wales" saw this one at the movies...and have watched it atleast a 100 times since...

"kelly's heros" an unrealistic spoof set in WWII, with 60s music soundtrack..but, entertaining to say the least! my fav part was when the overzealous general was listining to the radio transmissions of an apparant battle being waged..the commanding officer of the gravediggers battallion was telling kelly "hey, we have a stake in this too"!! the expression on carroll o'conners face was "priceless"!!

"the shootist" the dukes last film..one of the few that his charactor actually died in.

"american grafitti" fitting that the first time i watched this flick, was at a drive-in.

John Waynes' darkest charachter was Ethan in "The Searchers". It's a personal favorite along with a number of others listed earlier. I'd like to add to the growing list:

Anatomy of a Murder (Jimmy Stewart)
Fort Apache (Wayne and Fonda)
SGT. Rutledge
Rope
Bridge on the River Kwai
Winchester '73
The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance
The Sands of Iwo Jima
They Were Expendable
In Harms' Way
The Bedford Incident

I'll stop for now.

Haha...good flick. Dreyfus' fascination with the untouchable "T-Bird" chic throughout that movie was hilarius. Poor b*stard..lol

These may not be recorded by AFI as the great classics of all-time, but they're my Pre-1975 favorites...

1) To Kill A Mockingbird

2) In the Heat of the Night

3) Blackboard Jungle

4) A Slender Thread

5) Ben Hur

6) A Streeetcar Name Desire

7) To Sir with Love

8) Spartacus

9) The Dirty Dozen

10) The Fastest Gun Alive

As you can tell from most of the movies..
Sidney Poitier and Glenn Ford tie for my All-time favorite actors. I could sit here and watch their movies all day, and still be amazed.

Whoever said "The Searchers" is right on the money.
"Lawrence of Arabia" is fantastic, too.

An undeappreciated Bogie flick-- "African Queen".

Paul Newman in-- "Cool Hand Luke"-- one of the best performances and best films in American history.

I like Sellers and that movie tremendously but thought he topped that performance in 'Being There'. Chauncey Gardener, "I like to watch."

My favorite scene in Strangelove is Slim Pickens riding the nuclear bomb down to the target like he was bronc bustin'. Priceless. "We're gonna drop this bomb if it puts a hair lip on every cow in Plumb Creek."
