Good game guys. Durant is a freakin' beast. It was really close until about 5 min left... I look forward to the next match-up in Austin!:)

Durant is a man child and the Ags got great play from their bench. Texas is going to be scary come tourney time and the Ags need to fix the foul problems they have. Joe Jones needs to learn how to play better defense if he wants to stay in key games coming down the stretch. The return game Feb 28th should be another good one.

You would think he would break in half or something(very skinny), but the kid is so strong and pure athletic madness bottled up in that 18 year old boy.

I wonder what the final score would have been without all the ticky-tack fouls:rolleyes: Those refs sucked. A win is a win and I thought the Aggies stepped up when they lost two starters to fouls with a lot of time left in the game.

I thought the Horns went cold at the free throw line late in the game too. Especially when they had the game within 4 points.

I would agree with you had JOE Jones not just fouled out of the 18th time in 84 games. Also A&M is a physical team, this type of stuff will happen when you drive to the basket. The free throws were actually even at 37 apiece.

Thank God UT could shoot free throws. The refs gave'em enough opportunities.

oh hush a win is a win a game is a game we had to deal with all the non called penalties during the football game not it comes around and look what we have...

As a third party fan wishing for a tie, all I kept thinking is, " Damn they want UT to win this game!" The officiating totally sucked.

A&M's physical play should translate well to the tourney, although I think they are done-for in Austin. You may need that 12th man in hoops too, because if it is called anything like that game last night, plus being in the Erwin Center, some of those guys will have 4 fouls just for looking at Durant as he streaks by.

UT is the best young team I think I have ever seen, even better than the fab 5 when they came about. Barnes has to be coaching his butt off to keep these guys' heads on straight, because EVERYBODY knows how good they are- including the players themselves.

The Big XII has definately raised the bar for itself with an infusion of talent and much better coaching. I hope it keeps improving this way.

Slorch, I think North Carolina and their three freshman starters would likely run Texas off the floor on a neutral site. The Longhorns' downfall will be inconsistent scoring from everyone not named Kevin Durant, and the fact they are not a good defensive team. That's surprising because, if anything, Barnes is a defensive minded coach.

I can't even imagine him 30lbs lighter, as every broadcaster I've heard so far says he showed up to UT as.

Tap the brakes... I am a fan of Durant, but that's just way too much for me to think. Howard, Rose, Webber & Co were in a different stratosphere.

Here's my take - A&M is better than Texas, however, UT may win at the Drum. Both teams could go deep...A&M could go all the way.

This is accurate in my opinion. a$m is a very good team. Texas is young and not playing well especially on the defensive end at this time. Time is running out for them to get a run going for the tournament. They are too inconsistent. I could see them playing well the first weekend but getting blown out in the Sweet 16 round.

There still is time for them to get rolling, but they need to do it quickly.

As far as a$m, they certainly are playing well now, which might concern me as far as peaking too early, but you never know. I would be pissed for DV constantly saying they will be a "tough out" come tournament time. They are definitely worthy to be a #1 or probably #2 seed. That is a contender in my opinion, not someone expected to lose.

I get sooooo tired of listening to Dick Vitale. His voice just annoys the crap out of me. He sounds like he is always trying to talk as he is running out of breath.

While I thought several of the fouls called were incorrect, if you really are that good of a team you should be able to overcome the fouls. In the end, for all the complaining, it made no difference. I remember the OU game all the fans were complaining but A&M still won.

It was a treat to see Durant, even many of us in the stands were wowed by him. He does all the little things well like a very select few players I've seen can. While his 28 points and 15 rebounds were impressive, I also liked his hustle, how he was able to use his long arms to force a couple steals, and his defensive presence.

Overall, it was a good game. If you hadn't seen A&M play before that game, I encourage you to watch them more. Last night was not indicative at all of that team. That is the first time someone has scored more than 70 on them, they are normally a much better free throw shooting team, and they usually get to play their starters.

I didn't get to hear Dick Vitale but I've heard from everyone who didn't go to the game that he was pretty much on top of Durant. The paper this morning said he mentioned him in praise 21 times. I can hardly blame him though, the kid is amazing.

Yep, I believe Greg Oden had an offer from them as well. Greg Oden, Kevin Durant, Tyler Hansborough, etc... they wouldn't lose a game.

I know he was closer to leaning towards UNC I was just commenting that Vitale was up his *** last night and the guy didnt even go to dook. I can remember back with the days of Laettner, caple, jay williams, battier, boozer, duhon, reddick, hurley, hill and on and on and on. Had Durant somehow gone to dook ESPN and Vitale wiould be there evry damn game.

Had he commited to UNC it would have been unfair. However I would argue that he would not have had as many 30 pt games while at UNC, at the same time UNC might be undefeated with him on that team too. Scary absolutely scary.

I was really stunned at how much love he was throwin A&M's way. Everyone on the broadcast both on Sat and last night loved Acie.

The fab 5 ahhhh they were some sick guys, i dont know whats more amazing the fact that they never won a national title or the fact all were pure raw nba talent.

they were not all raw NBA talent. Ray Jackson never even sniffed the league and Jimmy King only played for 2 years.
The most impressive thing about the Fab 5 was how they managed to get to two straight national title games. The best final four game I still have ever seen was the 93 semis between Kentucky with Mashburn and Michigan. Michigan also had to overcome a very large deficit to UCLA out in Tucson that year during the second round. Their one downfall was they never played a full 40 minutes and their coach.

Florida has a damn good chance to do that this year.

And after watching a&m play last night if they win the big 12 tourny they've got a 1 seed in the bag.

Florida will not do it with an all freshman starting lineup followed by an all sophmore starting lineup.
Michigan also in the 92 tourney had to defeat Ohio State in Lexington Ky, with Lawerence Funderbird and Jimmy Jackson. Ohio State had defeated Michigan earlier that year pretty handily both times they played. Michigan came into the tourney as a number 6 seed and with the exception of the second round had a tough road. They upset Okie State in the sweet 16 and then Ohio State in OT to advance to the final four. What Michigan did in the 91-92 season was nothing short of impressive.

what 3 would that be?

Weber? nope
Rose? wrong again
Howard? once again wrong

King only could last for two years and Jackson never made it out of Europe.
