MOJO traveled to El Paso to take their first real test of the season and in the end they passed with flying colors, earning a tough 31-20 victory over the Montwood Rams. After opening the game with a 77 yard touchdown run by Josh Stephens, the going got tougher as Montwood responded with a long scoring pass. MOJO would answer right back with a Justin Rebber field goal and a 69 yard TD run by Colby Swearington to make the score 17-7. Montwood would climb right back into it on the strength of the air game as the Montwood quarterback worked out his arm throwing passes, and the referees wore theirs out throwing flags, mainly against MOJO. Montwood took a 20-17 lead into halftime. In the 2nd half, it was all MOJO as the coaches made adjustments and the Panthers executed the plan. Tate Smith capped off a 68 yard drive with a 2 yard TD plunge, then Robert Lujan snuffed out Montwood's last hopes with a 25 yard interception return for a touchdown. The Permian offense finished with a season high 494 total yards. The MOJO defense allowed 323 yards, but only 53 in the 2nd half. Permian was flagged 14 times for 125 yards.
