He just verbally committed to Oklahoma. He is suppose to be the #1 rated RB in the nation next year. Looks like another hotshot Texas blue-chip has decided to cross the river.

I never really realized as a kid why so many people got upset at recruited athletes for leaving Texas until I graduated college myself and had to leave the state to start work. Once you leave, you really come to appreciate how special Texas itself is, how special Texas HS football is, and how much of an honor it would be to compete at UT, Texas A&M, Tech, Baylor... whatever. People outside of this state... especially those in Oklahoma and Arkansas really have a burning inferiority complex when it comes to discussing Texas football. They hate Texas and they hate Texans... unless you can come play football for them as a mercenary.

Every kid has to make the choice that they feel is best, but it sure would be nice for us to keep more TX kids home. It would be great to have 2 or 3 Texas schools in the top 10 and 4 or 5 in the top 25 on an annual basis, and we produce enough talent for that to become a reality if we could just seal the recruiting borders.

Just about every year. I mean about 75% of the time. If you take the Final Top #25 college teams and take a look at the roster and scholarship football players on those Top #25 teams.

There is usually about 50 more Texas kids on those rosters than any other States players.

That's even when there is only like 2 Texas teams in the top #25 we still have just as many players on those top #25 teams as any other State.

We will see if his " oral " commit stands one year later. Sometimes these kids change schools like underwear. I would not put any stock into a commitment this darn early.
