Doesn't get much greener than Westlake. The Chaps are no Carroll, but they are doing better than 95% of Texas 5A's.
I do not think they pay their coaches anywhere near other 5A schools.

They take a crap load of westlakes money in robin hood and give it to all the "less fortunate" schools, but ur right, the coaches dont get paid as well as some do..I know it has nothing to do with the pay rate of the school but I was driving through westlake the other day when i got off work and i saw 2 lamborghini's driving together... Even tho i love the school and community i think its rediculous that people spend that much money on a car.

i know the coach's wernt driving them, just 2 westlake citizens who are probably doctors or lawyers driving lamborghinis. When i gruduated only 2 or 3 people drove hummers to school. If im not mistakin Coach long drives a chevy truck and grigg drives a green geo metro or somethin like that lol.

Why do you even start threads like this?
Have you actually heard that anyone was leaving?
This is a ridiculous thread.

I don't know whether they still do, but I know the Chap Clup used to subsidize the coaches salaries. So I think the salaries you read in the paper for the survey the DMN did last summer may not have included the booster club stipends. I'm not sure, though, whether UIL has stepped in to regulate that, because I almost think I remember seeing something in their rules about it. When I knew we were doing it was probably five years ago. I'm sure we're complying with whatever the UIL rules are because they're always very careful about that!

And one other thought or question. Coach Ramsey has taken over the boys soccer team because they had to ditch the coach in December. Will he remain as head soccer coach (they're playing pretty good right now)? If so, will he continue to help coach football or will that open a position?

LOL coach ramsey took over the boys soccer team? I thought it was the girls soccer coach that was fired? Theres no way in hell Ramsey would leave football to coach the soccer team, i beleive its just temporary. Why would u wanna become a Head coach at Austin High then move to a better school to coach football then want to coach the soccer team? lol i hope he doesnt.

I can't speak to what occurred in the past, but Chap Club does not in any way subidize or enhance any Westlake High School coaches' salary. That would be a clear violation of UIL rules.
Posters should be careful what they post here. Even flippant comments such as the one here could have very serious and far-reaching consequences to both the coaching staff and the booster organization.

Boosters can only add $500 per coach per year.
High school coaches are always being plucked by colleges, and other high schools. With the success that has been at Westlake, offers will come. Look at Stephenville, Southlake, etc.

My comment wasn't flippant--it was based on public discussion at a budget hearing at the school board SEVERAL years ago, and I took great pains to say that in my experience we're extremely careful to follow UIL rules, so I knew that if they address this (and I said I thought I'd happened across something like that RECENTLY), we would only do what they permitted.
