looks like tech cllected big on recievers so far. they have two of the best in the state. they got an oral commitment from tyler lee's jacob amie during the season. both recievers were ranked in top 100 on rivals i believe.

I can't honestly say if he's qualified yet. Last I had read, he was to take the SAT again.

But, I have watched this kid play ball for a lot of years and can't ever recall him being a casualty of no pass/no play.

The young man had a lot of offers on the table. He could have verbally committed to any of them a long time ago. This is a hypothetical statement, but he might have been waiting on the Aggies to make an offer. Why they didn't is beyond me. I guess they were waiting on Dez? I have no idea. Detron is a difference maker on the field if you get teh ball into his hands.

Congrats to Detron! I've been wondering where he would end up. I was highly impressed with him when I saw him play against Trinity last year. He has a great opportunity at Tech and I wish him the best!

yes, aimie is big target and a good run after the catch reciever. great hands. i never seen detron play. i hear he is good also.

I've watched Detron make so many unbelievable acrobatic catches in his time here at Consol. Tech is going to enjoy having him. Also, keep in mind that Detron did what he did in a heavily run-oriented winged T style attack. Pair him up with a great college QB and it'll be lights out.

Awesome, just awesome. I've gotten to see Detron play and he just stood out from the rest of the players on the field. He's a real baller, great hands, great size. This is a great pickup for Tech, I hope Amie doesn't decommit. I was a bit disappointed that Tech didn't get Dez, but this lifts my spirits. For the life of me, I can't understand why Fran didn't jump all over Detron.

I'm also a bit gun shy...that's why the loss of Dez didn't bug me as much. Tech has had a run of bad luck with Lufkin hotshots.

Keep in mind that Detron Lewis is very young too...most kids his age are barely high school juniors. His best days are in front of him; IMO, he still has lots of upside physical growth left in him. With hard work, Texas Tech has future All-American...he is a great fit for their system.

Detron was the 6th ranked WR on the A&M recruiting board and barely missed an offer.

Great player and wish him the best at TT.

Their offense does not need a lot of pure speed to operate and I think his skills will fit perfect into find an open spot and sit scheme.

I will bet he finds a starting role or at least in the starting rotation this fall.

Home town kid really should be an Aggie. Of course, I'd say that about Kansas LB Dudley as well. Both of these kids were All-State. Oh well, not my problem I guess. It's their team and they are probably better at evaluating talent than I am. I'm a homer when it comes to these Consol kids.

i heard these words from detron's very own mouth in december(yeah, detron's MOUTH!!!). he said that if A&M offered him a scholarship at that moment, he would not have even considered it. good job Fran:confused: . your incompetence once again amazes me. i know you only had 13 scholarships to hand out, but when you have detron in your own backyard, you gotta offer him.

I guess time will tell, thug. Truth be told, Detron has a better chance of getting a lot of touches by going to Tech. I wont try to second guess the Aggie coaches. They get paid a lot of money to make these decisions. I know I'd have had him continuing to wear maroon if it was up to me.

By the way, thug, congrats on a great basketball season. That was the one positive thing that came out of our getting knocked out of the football playoffs. The 2 sport guys were able to start the b-ball season and the team really seems to have done well this year. Good luck in teh playoffs!

thanks dad. just last night we clinched the district championship, by blowing out Belton 100-63. we finished with a 24-9 record in the regular season. if it was not for the football guys coming over earlier than planned, i am quite certain that we would not have had the season that we are experiencing now.

but i understand what you are saying about detron. he wil thrive in that tech offense. i cannot wait to see him on the t.v. then when i'm at college i can say "i went to high school with that guy". it will be very exciting.

it will be against the 4th place team in 14-5a. i believe this is between cedar park and rr mcneil. i believe it will be in Waco sometime during the week of the 19th. i'll let you know when i know for sure.
