Its going to be totally different from P-Ville Conally.... he isnt gonna be showered with the athletes he had there thats for sure...

but you also have to think...the kids he is going to get are the ones that are going through the sv program in middle school right now and are coached very well there.

maybe he will get a few kids from sv. he will still have a rough go about it. that will be a tough job. i don't think this will hurt sv at all. coach hill is a very precise and efficient coach and will continue what he has built. monzingo had all of those athletes in 4a and still could not produce a long run in the playoffs. he will have a hard time without those athletes.

thats true but the players he's going to be getting are from the Lake... and I hate to make a generalization like that but if you actually look at it... most of the good players at SV come from Spring Branch and Bulverde... am I wrong??
P-Ville Conally has sick athletes not quite as good as Lufkin but they arent slouches...

Most of the good athletes have been employees of the district or a coaches or administrators kid. LoL. No this will not hurt SV at all. I still can't believe hill went for two. I had the Rangers all the way in my bracket.

What are you talking about he went to the semis in 2004 and 2005 and made the playoffs every year since 1999? I think the school opened in 1998.

lol dude the school is like 28 years old now and he has made the playoffs since 1994 except for 1995

yeah but for the past 4 years all of the o line starters have been from SVMS and all of the position players have been from SBMS and you also have to consider that SVMS is getting better in sports...they did win the district and did beat SBMS in the last game of the year

lone rocket. I am saying that with the athletes he had he should have played in the state title game. They were in Region IV for crying out loud and it doesn't get hard until you get to the Quarters. That is the easiest region to get to the quarters. They had all the tools to get to the state finals. Just look at some of the recruits that have come out of that school. They have had great talent at the skill positions every year.

I think they started getting those students in the early part of 2000 when they started to get Austin ISD kids (housing start up patterns) who would have went to Lanier, Reagan and possibly LBJ and Manor.

I think they also played in Region III and maybe Region II.

No never II maybe III a couple of years. But most of the time they were in IV and that is no excuse. where ever they got those athletes from I don't care. They probably had the best athletes in Austin at the 4A level.

Yo SV people,
Will the new school drop SV's numbers enough to make it a 4A school in 08-09?

I doubt it. Our population is growing too fast, and the Bulverde/Spring Branch area is growing much faster than Canyon Lake.
Dude Connelly opened in mid 1990's.
AH I thought you were talking about sv

Not all kids from Smithson Valley Middle school are going to Canyon Lake High school. It will still feed SVHS.
I Know I dont think it will effect SV as bad as some people are saying

It won't effect them AT ALL for at least another year. The new school will only be grades 9 & 10 next year, so they'd only lose a few of the current freshman players, none of which would have been on varsity next season anyway.

SV might drop to 4A, but even then it would only be for like 2 years or so. There is not much growth in the Canyon Lake area. Not compared to Bulverde anyways.
