Switched over to Rivals during the shut down. Picked this up over the weekend. This Bradley Stephens kid from south Texas is really impressive. They posted his track highlights on his web site and he really moves. I heard that he runs a 48 sec 400M as a sophomore.

48.98 is what he ran, he is the real deal, he's a 4.4 kid that is 5'11 185lbs and is only a Soph.....just wait till he grows into his body...

I heard about this Stephens kid last season. We'll have to watch and see how he does this season. The Junior year is when the elite players usually make their name.
But, I heard he showed some flashes of greatness this past season. Although I think the level of competition he faces most weeks in the Valley is not top level competition so some of the numbers can get over-inflated. But, his probably the real deal.

the district Stephens plays in is no joke, sure its not 26-5A, but i garantee you, teams like LaJoya (regional finalist 2004), Nikki Rowe (Area finalist 2004) and Sharyland (4A regional semifinalist team 03' and 5A playoff team 04') are not cupcakes......they may not be Smithson Valley, Southlake Carrol or Katy, but then again, what player in the state meets comp like that week in and week out, Bradly Stephens is the real deal.....

This Stephens kid looks like the real thing to me.
Only a sophomore and he has the leg and arm drive that continue
through in the last 100 meters.
he's the real deal folks!
It looks like he is used to running by himself out there in front.
As he grows and runs against those with his times, he should learn how to deal with competition.
Does Baylor have him in their sites???????
Could be that we're lookin' at the next world leader in the 400 after Wariner.

 wowzerz
the kid is the real deal...he has had D1 scouts on him since he was a freshmen. He has great visions and speed to burn..he should get better as he reaches his senior year. one thing you guys are right about is the district he is in is not as competitive as some of the upstate districts where you have your Katys, SLC, etc. etc..but I will say this...you put this kid in Katys backfield or Lufkins or whatever and he will produce...he doesnt have the supporting cast to make him really shine at Memorial..Im looking foward to seeing this kid on saturdays ...God willing...

Great football highlights & great track highlights..... I'm sold he definitely is the real deal and should be one of the best if not the best 2007 RB recruit.

I have very high expectations for my Red Raiders this year, Been keeping up with Spring practices, our D, well I am impressed, in all of our live scrimmages they have had at least 2-3 Int's in every one!!, The Run is being stuffed, and this is our first O against the 1st D. Raider Power!!!

RGVBADBOY... I'm not taking anything away from Stephens at all. I think the kid is the real deal and will have probably 50 different D-1A schools to choose from in two years.
His showing that he has some of the God Giving Natural skills to develop into a solid D-1A football players.
My point about the stat numbers is I dont think he see's alot of top notch competition on your average Friday night in the Valley. So, some of his stat #'s can be somewhat over-inflated.
But, if you put him in Midland Lee's , Longview, Lufkin, Katy, North Shores or about 10 other top notch 5A programs in Texas that always have dominate O-lines and other threats on offense. I'm sure he would probably have Cedric Benson type numbers there to..

What kind of work does that kid's dad do? We may need to find him a higher paying job here in Abilene! Would like to have him in the backfield along with Potts and company. :)

After watching the clips and seeing his 400 times . . . . . . .
I think this kid should think of forgetting football and concentrating on his track abilities.
A 15-16 yr. old that can run a 48. is a rare thing.
One hit on the side of his knee and . . . . poooof
There goes football, AND track.
Being a old track guy, I love to see the talent that is coming up.
Look at Michael Johnson. His track exploits have made him wealthy. One can definately make a living at running.
There are only a handful of men in the world that can run the 400 at stephens probable level. I doubt that he would excel in the same way as a running back.

this is the first athlete that could run the 400 that fast at memorial i know one Louie Ontiveros ran a 48 maybe 47 as a freshman his middle school time in 8th grade would of won district that year..........but anyways back to stepehns he is pretty impressive he originally moved down from Chicago so perhaps he may not have any interest in any tx teams

Maybe I'm just a New Yorker who doesn't know how good players are supposed to be, but that kid playing against Texas competition looks EXTREMELY good running the football. He is not just a speed back, he has great cutting and stop/start ability. He looks better than Michael Hart (The freshmen phenom at U. Michigan this year) at the same age from up here in NY.
If some of you guys can't say he is fantastic, then I can't wait to see some of the other backs in the state this fall down here.

Louie was faster than Stephens, at least as a freshman and soph.....Louie's best 400m time was a 47.20, 21.13 200m and a 10.40 100m.....fyi

What about Adrian Peterson, can't he run fast during his Soph. year?
RGVBadBoy

Adrian Peterson was a FREAK, he had an extremely rare combination of size and speed, 6'3 205 runnign a 10.3 100m, that is really impressive....yes Peterson was faster than them... Louie Ontiveros only played football one season, he was a WR and was pretty good he avg. like 30yrds a catch but only caught like 15 to 20 balls all season, but he was too small, he was about 5'7 160lbs but i heard that they timed him on a rubber track with his track spikes at 4.1 secs in the 40yrd dash..
