Oh Dear Lord (http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/front/4474386.html)

As you can tell I'm not happy about this. The Astros not only give him a new contract...but they give him a freaking raise too.
I thought the idea was to give a raise to players who perform better...not worse??

In other news they also signed former Astros outfielder Richard Hidalgo as well. wow....Nothing like "Doggie" to make your offseason complete.

Wide, let's face it, the Stros are desperate for players.

I think there is a small chance that Lidge could be improved with the right coaching. His problem is he has 2 pitches and when his control is off, everyone knows here comes the old no. 1.

I have been shouting that from the mountain tops for 2 years now.
If he can't throw the slider for a strike...and it's bouncing and making Ausmus do the splits every pitch...then he's forced to basically throw a faster version of BP.

If anyone has figured that out, it's this guy...

Of course that guy does that to just about every pitcher in the league. Why the Astros continue to pitch to that guy is beyond me.

My gut tells me the 'Stros will relax on tossing the sacrificiial rock to Pujols this season.

It's like getting blown up by Ray Lewis or Brian Urlacher, but keep on running dive plays up the middle because you broke one against Detroit...

Yep...you didnt hear.....That's the new thing in baseball....to get a raise you just suck REALLY bad....and they pay you not to suck the next year.

Oh brother - same old same old. He really needed a new home outside of Houston. Maybe he'll work hard this winter and come back a new man but I think, like David Carr, he is a broken man in Houston. Hope he proves a lot of us wrong though. I was hoping for some miracle trade for Kaz and then we'd have two Cy boys on the mound with Woody coming to the Astros. I guess Tampa Bay has their very tight hold on him - what a waste.
