Dear Oklahoma State student body:

Why did you rush the floor after beating Texas? Do you not know when the proper time is to rush the floor? Obviously not. Rushing the floor rules:

1. The team must either be ranked in the Top 20 OR you must have a long losing history against the team and finally overcome them. No rushing the floor against teams ranked #21-on, unless they are your nemesis giving you trouble over the past few matchups.

2. You must be ranked worse than the team you beat.

3. You must be a fairly decent underdog against the opponent you beat.

4. If not all above 3 criteria are met, the only scenarios in which rushing the floor is accepted is a desperation buzzer beater to beat your main rival(see: Texas A&M over Texas last year) or winning the conference title in the conference title game(usually only acceptable in mid-major conference title games because some conference title games are played on the school's home floor)

Let's use two court rushing examples.

Gonzaga at St. Mary's the other night. Gonzaga had won 23 straight WCC games, beaten St. Mary's 4 times in a row and St. Mary's have only beaten them once in 22 years. Gonzaga was the favorite, though unranked, but had some decent wins this season and had been the thorn in St. Mary's side over the years. St. Mary's won, they met all the criteria, therefore, cleared for take-off.

Oklahoma State at home last night against Texas. You were ranked #14, Texas was ranked #23. Therefore, the Pokes did not qualify for this criterion. At tipoff, Oklahoma State was favored 5 1/2 over Texas. Not only was Oklahoma State the favorite and not the underdog, but it's not like it was a close Vegas line either. Come on, you were playing at HOME! I don't know much of the history between the two teams, but I know that Oklahoma State and Texas have won their fair share of games against eachother over the past few years. Oklahoma State didn't qualify for a single criteria of the 4, and therefore should be ashamed of themselves and ready for ridicule by the national College Basketball media.

I think rushing the court is warranted in great rivalry games like we witnessed last night in addition to the four points you outlined bleed.

I do think students rush the court too much now, but they obviously want to celebrate and be seen around the nation on Sportscenter/Fox, etc.

Dear Oklahoma State student body:

Why did you rush the floor after beating Texas?

Because they just won probably the most exciting game of this year, one that many of their fans consider one of the top 3 games ever at one of the oldest facilities in the country.

Does it really matter?

Big deal?

WAs an awesome game and an awesome finish.

Plus, what else were they going to do, sit in their cars in the ice?

Get over it......

See my "How to be a homer" post in the college section. After your team loses a game, popular retorts include challenging the classiness of the other team's fans. This is a favorite ploy of Aggies versues Texas Tech, but I see other fans cannot resist its siren song.

Good grief. The students just sat through a 3OT game between 2 conference heavyweights that got won on a great shot. Since when is celebration classles?

So are these actual 'rules' or did you just make these up because you are pissed off? Did you even watch the game? Don't know if you realized what you saw, but it was one of the best games ever seen at Gallagher-Iba, and will probably be the game of the year. Although Texas and Oklahoma State isn't a big rivalry, there is a definitely a strong passion up here in Stillwater to beat Texas in football and basketball seeing as they are usually dominant year in year out.

Explain again why we are classless for going on our own home court for celebrating a victory after a great game?

Firebird that analysis is dead-on....but I don't think it applies in this instance. This guy is a fan of the mighty Horned Frogs of Texas Christian University.

The one and only...do not mock the mighty Horned Toads...
Did you know that due to the enormous intimidation factor the Longhorns don't want any part of TCU in Ft. Worth. They will only play them at DKR.

I went to TCU for several years...99% of the alumni know the *** beating is coming @ Texas next year. You gotta give them a little bit of credit for their recent record against the big 12. How much do you think UT will put up against the horned frog Defense??

It also might have something to do with the fact of a VERY exciting win (with a very depleted bench) after a spanking was done to OSU by Kansas the game before. Classless, I don't think so.

I think the term "classless" has been overused. In this case for example, anyone can argue that the student body rushing the floor may have been unnecessary, but what caused the event to sink to a defamatory action, or a display of a lack of character or classless? Taunting in the endzone, trash talk after a game, vulgarity, indecency, these things lack class.
Oldtig says, "celebration- O.K."
