View Full Version : Bill Walton and the Rockets
Was watching my beloved Rockets one night....caught the tail end of it, but Bill Walton said something to the nature that he would take Phoenix's defense over the Rockets.....I mean I'm not a basketball junkie, but saying DEFENSE and Phoenix in the same line is like saying Notre Dame wins bowl game.....is Bill drunk? The Rockets defense is one, if not THE best in the league...even with Yao out. Remember I think it was the second title run win Hakeem went out with an injury and Clyde and a bunch of role players held the team above water and they finished 6th in the west? Dream came back just in time to embarrass "MVP" David Robinson and the Rockets went all the way? It's like Deja Vu....Yao out....McGrady ballin.....Juwan Howard is coming up big and Mt.Mutumbo is playing like he is 18 again........I like this team.

Oct. 17 @Dallas Houston 72-69
Nov. 4th @Houston Houston 107-70
Hate to see what happens when they actually catch up.

Bill Walton is John Madden for the NBA, only Madden sometimes makes some sense.
Houston has me really excited this year. I got to go watch them play NY, I loved it. Pro sporting events are special for me, I don't get to see them that often. Unitl he got hurt, Yao was playing like the best center in the league, and T-Mac, Battier, Head and the rest have picked up the slack admirably.
In all honesty, I don't care who does it-- SA or Houston, I just want the Mavs brought back down to earth in the playoffs. I hate the Mavs so much...

Walton gets paid to make an *** out of himself. Everybody in his industry knows he is a 60's hippie with an affinity for miscellaneous herbs and substances, which is why he can't truly be taken seriously as a commentator. He just is what he is. I will never forget when the college final 4 was in SA and he described the college crowd "seething toward the court". There was no actual seething, other than Bill's head possibly seething from foreign substances. :)

Maybe Bill Walton meant the Sun's offense is their defense? Phoenix has the leagues best offense, Houston has the league's best defense, however, right now, Phoenix has the highest differential (points scored-points allowed).

Oh yeah, speaking of Bill Walton and Houston, the guy is in love with Hakeem. When talking about the NBA's great centers, he'll always mention Hakeem with much acclaim.

I see you conveniently left out this week's game!:D
Dallas 109
Houston 96
The Preseason game didn't matter. I saw that game on TV and Dallas was resting guys for the regular season. That beatdown in November was impressive, but it was also in Game 2 of Dallas' opening the season 0-4. They've gone 33-4 since the opening 4 games. Now if we could only get Phoenix to lose. They've gone 29-3 since opening the year 1-5.

GO ROCKETS!!!
:D
I'm glad the Rockets are doing better. They might not make the Finals or Western Conference Finals but appear to be in the right direction.

I posted this before this weeks game. Houston will be fine...if they can get Yao and Tmac together...since they've been here (4 years or more) they've only played together about 70 games...not even a full season. Yao will be back ....we just have to hope Tmacs back holds up.

Bill Walton is about as dumb as a sack of sledge hammers. Listening to him is like listening to Brent Musberger during a football game.

Lonny, let it also be known that the Mavs first win of the year came against the Suns in Phoenix.

You ain't lying! With all the injuries that T-Mac and Yao have year after year, he/she definitely needs a raise.

I will agree with that statement. ESPN had them at #1, #3, and #4 in the Power Rankings this week.

I always figured the trainer on the teams who keep getting hurt should be fired for not doing a good enough job keeping them healthy.

I never thought about it that way Lonny.
