God you reek of jealousy.

Yes I was screaming my *** off when Melton hossed everyone over it was awesome. I wish he would have gotten as many carries as Charles.....then see who had more yards.

Why would I "reek of jealousy" when we have Humes and Imoh? And most importantly, Marcus Vick.

It'd be even nicer to see them lose to Tech in the Rose Bowl....provided Texas gets that far....which I doubt they will.

Back to the subject at hand, the RBs...

I may get blasted for saying this, but I really think Texas may be in better shape with their current stable of RBs than they were last year with Cedric. Dont get me wrong, I do think Cedric is one of those special players that only comes along every now and then, but the current options at RB now provide so many more dimensions to the offense that I dont think Cedric was great at. I think we have two RBs in Ramonce Talyor and Selvin Young that are outstanding receivers. So much so that they could be split out wide if the coaches so chose. I think Jamaal has also shown that he could be a great receiver as well. You have more speed in the backfield when you have Selvin, Ramonce or Charles and I think you have just as much power (maybe more in the future) than Benson provide in short yardage situations with Hank the Tank.

However, I think the most important thing is the ability to throw a fresh set of legs out there. When you are in this Texas offense that runs the ball more than 50 times a game, that is very hard on your RB. With this committee that Texas has back there, you always have somebody fresh to throw out there and each bring their own unique style to the game.

I think something else that this group does is take a little bit of pressure off of Vince. Again, dont get me wrong. You cant replace the experience and football smarts that Benson brought, but I think all these new, young, fresh legs will allow Vince to carry the ball fewer times and maybe take a little bit less of a beating.

In the end, this group probably wont produce an 1800 yard rusher (at least not this season) like Benson last year, but I really thing this group as a whole could better the 1800 yards Benson put up last year. God help the opposing defense that happens to be out there when Greg Davis realizes that Vince, Jamaal and Hank the Tank lined up together in the backfield is about as dangerous a trio as you could see. It would be like thunder, lightning and lightning.

All that being said, we need to see how this group does against good defenses like they will see this week. If Melton is still breaking 6 tackles a carry and if Jamaal is still blowing by people like they are standing still when they are on the field against the likes of Ohio State, Mizzou, Mobilhoma, etc., then Texas may have something very special.

As someone who has followed Henry for a while. I would love to see his class schedule this semester.

KT2000

There was some question as to whether Melton would be eligible when fall practices started up again. In fact, he and Charles had to wait on NCAA Clearinghouse decisions (concerning summer credits earned) to be cleared for practice. Evidently, each did what they needed to be eligible in the eyes of the NCAA so hopefully they'll continue working hard in that regard. Texas has lost a few key players to academics in the last couple of years, so it was good to see them handle their business.

I believe Charles and Melton will be the top two backs on the depth chart after this week. Selvin is probable for Ohio State and should see time, but I don't think he's durable enough to hold off the freshmen.

He could just turn in a picture of Jolly doing his dance after the tackle in the 4th Qtr....with the caption 77-0...

remember that?

● PROPER BEHAVIOR?: The highlight shows poked fun at some Aggie defensive players who celebrated a rare tackle for loss late in the Oklahoma game. Replays quickly cut to a stone-faced Franchione on the sideline, but earlier this week, the coach said he wasn’t upset by their enthusiasm - appropriate or not.

"You know, I saw two kids playing hard that made a play that was trying to permeate some of that to their teammates," Franchione said. "And we were excited that they made a play. I think anybody that chastises those kids for that wanted them to quit. They didn’t want them to keep playing hard, and I think that’s wrong."

HEY FRAN----- it was 77 to freakin' ZERO...and your defense was dancing and celebrating ONE stop!!! poor aggy

Funny thing is i think selving better then both Melton and Jamal hes both big and fast if he could just stay healthy i think he will put up better numbers the cedric. I liked cedric to but i think this years offensive team is better.

Now is shiply would just play i would be happy i think texas needs him to be a successfull passing team.

Virginia Tech barely beat NC State, who isn't in a single poll...not only that, I saw the two "best" teams in the ACC play monday night, and theySUCKED. From what I saw the first week Georgia Tech might well win the ACC, and play TCU in the Fiesta Bowl. But USC and UT are without question the best two teams, and there is a group of sportwriters who make this thing called the "AP poll" who agree.

So which team in the Big XII could beat Va Tech, Florida, or Miami? Certainly not Oklahoma or Texas A@M. A@M lost to an unranked Clemson team if I remember correctly and OU lost to an unranked TCU team so what exactly are you screaming about. When Wake Forest beats Nebraska on Saturday the BIG XII will be O for the ACC. As for the AP poll this early in the year they are the same people who ranked A@M and AUBURN who lost to those unranked ACC teams. Check your facts!!!

Im am by anymeans a A&M fgan but in 12 weeks or so i dont think clemson will want to have a rematch with them. Also if you watched the TCU vs OU game you wouldnt be poking fun at TCU they are a very talented bunch of kids. Texas Tech would have destroyed Clemson,VT,And NC state easily. \

Texas Tech doesn't play defense. That's why they don't win championships. Give me a break TCU won only 2 games last year in Confrence USA. Oklahoma was the best you have in the BigXII and they lost to an unranked second tier school at home no less. Clemson was picked 8th out of 12 teams and was unranked and beat the 17th ranked team in the country a team people on this board have said could challenge for the BIGXII title. OVERATTED is what they were and it showed on the FIELD.

All kidding aside, I agree with Redskin, I am still not sure how much we really learned about the Horns last weekend. We are gonna learn alot tomorrow night!
I still think CB was as good as any back I have ever seen coming out of HS, right up until that collision in the Big 12 championship game against CO, when he ran into his own offensive lineman downfield. He transformed from then on to more of a power runner, and lost a step that I don't think he ever gained back. But Charles, looks every bit as impressive so far!

It's not like ou has won every year they have played.

Whats your point?
That Texas used to beat OU?
Who cares?

No one cares that A&M won 10 of 11 from Texas from 84 to 94 either. Lately Texas has owned A&M, but OU has owned Texas. You can pull out your history books all you want.

Texas "owns" the all-time record...
So how does ou own Texas?
Because they have won 5 in a row?
And again I will ask the same thing I always ask...
If history doesn't matter...then why are you talking about 5 years ago?
Still no answer to that one...
