The Mighty Lions brought it last night and they in my opinion had the biggest win/upset, whatever you want to call it. I think John Tyler will be a force to be reckon with. I see Tyler Lee, John Tyler, and the Lobos coming out of 12-5A.

wide-e-wide, i wouldn't laugh about that too long. The Lions are going to be a solid team this year with plenty of athletes and much better coaching this year. I am a REL student but I can honestly tell you that if LEE doesn't bring it against JT then it could result in an upset. John Tyler will make the playoffs, especially with a 4th team making it.

Ah, he lives in Wacko and is cheering for a different team.
All the same, JT has more state titles than Lufkin, and has a lot better history and tradition behind it.

If I am not mistaken the 4 team playoff thing does not start till next season.

Wide-e-Wide is a Lufkin graduate so that is why he is a Lufkin fan. He just lives in Waco now.
I am pulling for JT to be a powerhouse again and history is great and all but past titles and tradition does not matter to the team that is playing now. There are alot of teams that can boast about what they did 5-10 years ago but most fans and players care about what the team can do now. What matters now is who are the State Power Houses now not who they were 5-10 years ago. I look forward to seeing JT have a great season but please don't come off with that ......more state titles and tradition stuff, that did not do anything for you last year did it? You guys will be back on top soon and I am looking forward to seeing Texas football dominated by four East Texas Teams from our old 5A district.

Yea it starts next year.
I just dont see the JT making them this year. Sure they're getting better but still a long way to get back to where they used to be

let's be optomistic...if they improve all year they could sneak in. prolly not though.

Thank you LPFan...for a second there I thought I was gonna have to go off on somebody. As a matter of fact........even if I was a Waco fan (which I am not) didn't Waco make the playoffs last year....and lost to who?......ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Lufkin.right?....where was JT when all that was going on?...At the house just like me...listening on the radio...Don't get me started on JT....I hate those (bleep)ers almost as much as I hate aggy....and that's bad.

Thats my mistake on the 4 playoff teams...One thing I will add though, the winner of the Mesquite vs. John Tyler game more than likely will be the 3rd playoff team behind Lee and Longview.

It sounds like JT might get that playoff spot...the 3rd spot now looks to be a race between JT, MHS, and NHMS.

I know if I was going to the playoffs ....I would want to go in from the back door....gimme a break...let's go back to the days of ONLY district winners make the playoffs.

yea, me too wide----and ONE state champ, as well!.....i will go out on a limb though, and say that JT sneaks in as the 3rd hole this season...Lee or Longview will be 1 and 2, of course--don't know which order??

I attended the JT/Texas High game and was not impressed at all. We will see when they play a 5A team, the 4A team from Texarkana gave them all they could handle.

bilbo, i'm betting that texas high would win several 5a districts and make the playoffs in almost every district. it was a great win for jt. congrats. they are on the road back.
