Chaminade-Madonna Walk-Through
I've returned from Chaminade-Madonna's walkthrough at TMF Rose Stadium.
Great looking athletes...very well organized.
More size on the offensive line than I first thought, especially two book-end tackles who are very tall.
The quarterback has a very strong and accurate arm, receivers can fly.
Xavier Stinson, the fullback and backup middle linebacker is thick and was told he squats 500-pounds. He's one of the most sought-after underclassmen, as is the wide receiver, Aiken.
The athletes in the secondary look very special.
Big thick-strong looking kids on the defensive line.
Their kicker has a strong leg, very accurate, his third year kicking extra points and field goals. Kicked just two FG's a year ago, 12-the season before.
They arrived at their hotel in Tyler about 3:00am...slept in, started their walkthrough about noon.
The Lions will have their team meal about 3:30, then have meetings and then head to the stadium.
Several players said they enjoyed the heat, and that it was exactly what they're used too...and in fact one coach said they didn't expect to use the fans on the sidelines...one said "Coach won't let those run during our game".
One local note, Chaminade-Madonna's tight ends coach is a former star basketball player at Tyler Junior College, Donahue Kinsey. He played for Roy Thomas in the late-80's.
