To be 100% honest with you, most of the trash talking Judson fans do is in response to potshots from others. If you read our threads, we're not cocky about wins each week and we just move on. If there's anything we trash talk about, it's Region 3 because they don't ever want to give R4 any credit.

And speaking of trash talking look at these Lufkin fans. They act like their program has the history that Judson has. Lufkin has choked everytime they are ranked high and are supposed to win the title. Well guess what? This year will be much of the same. Win a title then act like your team is the bomb. What good are national and state rankings when you can't win the big one? Eventually those polls that have you ranked high will see that you can't finish strong and win state and they will stop ranking you so high. People who run those polls hate it when you make them look stupid.

Lufkin has plenty to be proud of, so I don't mind them talking about how good they've been recently. What I'm talking about is the fact that Judson still goes deep in the playoffs, but so many people leave them off as an elite team. I'm talking about the people who are always dogging out Region 4 and saying that what Judson is doing is not that important or hard. I'm talking about comments saying that Arlington Lamar would've also gone to 10 title games if they'd been in Region 4 all this time.

Lufkin hasnt choked... Its having to play SLC every damn year in the Semi's... If Judson were to play SLC... same thing would happen... but would Judson be chokers...?

Hey, no problem - I should be clearer in my joking - never my strong suit. Judson's program speaks for itself - and jealousy goes along way toward alot spoken against the Rockets.

At some point we have to let it go. It was one kid acting alone. I know he's not the only person who feels that way, but we learn things in life and sometimes we learn to like other races. Racist/prejudiced kids and adults are everywhere.

I really think that's what happens. Some people never let 2004 go, but I really suspect quite a few others get a burr under their saddle ever once in a while because of the past. For the most part, the Judson posters seem to be good posters around here. We sometimes talk about being the best in the history of 5A, but we don't talk about it all the time. We spend more time talking about getting better during the current season and what we might be able to do. The main thing that makes Judson posters pull the history card is when somebody starts talking trash. When somebody starts saying Judson is mediocre or can't win big games, etc. I go to history because that's my proof that you can't write the Rockets off. When you think you have them beat when is when they come back on you. It's only natural that I'm going to mention the past when somebody says Judson wins because they play chumps. I'm always going to ask what that means about other regions in 5A.

I've seen Lp play some damned fine ball in the past 5-6 years. i don't hear many Pack fans crowing about their history as much as the past decade. They don't choke either. They have taken on all comers, and the ONLY team they cannot seem to beat is SLC. Guess what, nobody else can either...

Good point farmer. We are all human. Let's remember that when we're taking shots at each other. Think about it this way. If we were all allowed to meet each other on a basketball court with guns when the hair on our necks is standing up, who would survive? Remember, we're all human and are taught to value life. The debates are fun and really don't prove a thing in the big picture. Farmer, we've been going at it pretty good lately, but I can honestly say I wouldn't shoot you if given the chance no matter how bad our discussions get. So, with that in mind, we need to keep this in perspective. We all love our teams and we think they are the best. That is one thing we can all agree on and we shouldn't get the death penalty for it.
Remember, it's just a game and it is fun, both the debates and the game on the field.

I don't think I am what people many times want to accuse me of thinking. I get a lot of personal attacks from others because of that. I never said I was always right and I know I'm not. I will say that I have to defend Judson many times because people say and think what you just said and they go out of their way to say something. If you read what I say and I know you see a lot but probably not everything, you'll see that I sometimes reference things that I was wrong about and that's without somebody out there keeping score to remind me of what I said.

I'm pretty clear-cut in my posting. I never try to mask my opinion as fact for events of the future. Yes, I do believe what I say will happen, but none of us will ever be 100%. There's too much of a human element for us to be right every time. I go out on a limb to predict things. That's just my nature. I'm going to be right more often than I'm going to be wrong, but I'm sure enough going to be wrong sometimes because I do go out on a limb and don't play it safe. I'm just not going to be a poster to never put my neck on the line. Many people try to not say things to not be wrong or won't predict things. I not only go with the here and now, but I also go out into the playoffs and start the season with that focus in mind. I'd be bored if I had to look at just the current week. That wouldn't work as a coach or a player, but it's fine for somebody on the sideline.

I use a lot of stats and figures. I put them in my posts to add weight to the point I'm trying to make. I like to look at the past to get a potential idea for the future and I defend the past if I think somebody is out of line or off base. I'll make a mistake here and there, but my stats are pretty air-tight because I do my research before I say stuff. I don't post off the cuff when I throw those around.

I have an opinion about the past just like everybody else does. I don't think my opinion is always the right answer and sometimes it's just my answer. Obviously there are opinions out there that I think are the wrong answer and I say something when I feel that way. You could throw several names out there as the best high school team in Texas all-time and I wouldn't disagree or say you were wrong. If you said somebody like Abilene Cooper, I'd say something. I said yesterday that I thought Permian had a better history than Judson and I've been consistent in that so it's not like I'm going to always say Judson is the best. That's a fallacy that some people have about me. I happen to like a team that's been very successful and still has success so it's not far-fetched for me to predict great things for them and not be out in left field.

There was a time when I said stuff to make people mad, but that went away in 2004. To this day, I try to stand up for what I think is right. Most of what you think of me currently doing to start fires is in self-defense to prevent future stupid comments from others. I referenced you in that post and it was in context with what we were discussing in the thread. I wasn't going to mention your name, but I did mention the behavior because it's an example of what I'm trying to combat. It's one thing to win and have people hate your team or town because of it, but it's a whole other thing to win and then have people come around and say you didn't really do anything. We always hear that you need to prove yourself to get respect and I take it as an insult when somebody wants to cheapen championships and long periods of success. I don't care what team we're talking about, either. I'd disagree in a heartbeat if somebody wanted to belittle Plano or Permian or say that Amarillo, Lubbock, Abilene, and Wichita Falls didn't ever do anything because they won titles so long ago.

I get tired of hearing people come at me with the "you're not always right" mantra and I'll give them a cocky sounding response at times just because of it. Most of the time, I respond like this post.

Farmer, I really like you and I'd help you every chance I can get. I appreciate you hooking me up last week and Coop called me on Friday night. We talked for a while and he said he had enough info from me for about 2 columns and would probably try to get me on the air this year.
