I am not sure if it is an official trophy or not(my friend just told me about it so enlighten me if im wrong) but it is awarded to the overall best sports/fine arts program.
Meaning you would have to do good in all areas including football, basketball, baseball, band, etc.
I would have to pick the woodlands because I see them in top 20 polls in everything.

Currently Westlake is looking very good. The tennis team is a lock for the State Semi-finals and has an extremely good chance of winning it all. The volleyball team is currently ranked #3 in the state and has won 2 of the last 4 championships, with last years team placing second by the slimmest of margains. And of course we all know Westlake has a football team that has a really good chance of going far in the playoffs thanks to the move to Region 4. I would be shocked if we weren't competing for the cup come May.
Our swim team is defending state champions and our girl's golf was the state runner up last year, so those look to be strong sports for us again this year.

Is there a site where you can check this stuff? Or is it all unofficial?

As far as I know, all the rankings and such are found on the uil website, but not final until the end of the year. Since there havn't been any UIL state championships yet this year, there's no official standings yet. The competition, however, is definitely official.

it is official -- look on UIL web site --gives the requirements & updates at certain dates ( 1st update Dec 8 --includes tennis , volleyball , cross country & marching band ) --2nd update Jan 12 includes footbal -- then other updates as various sports / activities complete-( schedule is below ) until June 2 when baseball fishes
The Woodlands won last year -- Kingwood the year before
Pretty much have to have at least 1 state championship & most of all other sports make playoffs --plus the fine arts have to be successful also

Please note that district championships are only included in the standings for the aforementioned UIL Events. District Championships for all other activities are not included in these standings. In the rare event of a team championship tie or a tie in the final standings for the individual sports and academic competitions, the schools will split the allotted points of that place and the place immediately following. Example: A two-way tie for third in the Boys Cross Country competition would result in 10 points (6 points for third place plus 4 points for fourth place) being split between the two teams.
Official Tie Breakers
If two schools in the same classification finish the UIL athletic/academic year tied atop the Lone Star CupTM point standings, the overall winner will be determined as follows:
Most Overall State Championship in all activities included in the Lone Star CupTM program
Most Total Points received in the State Academic Meet
Most District championships in all Team Sports included in the Lone Star CupTM program
State or National Polls
A high school's rank in a state or national poll will not count in the Lone Star CupTM standings. All points are based on a high schools' finish in the championships for the aforementioned UIL-sanctioned sports and activities.

I think until last year, Carroll was always 2nd place to Kingwood. Last year was their lowest standing (3rd) in about 10 years. Prior to that, SLC won #1 several years in 4A. I think Highland Park probably has the all-time record with like 16 of them in 4A lol
History repeats with Kingwood #1 (although Carroll's girl's volleyball team is looking awfully good..maybe they'll get those extra two points to beat Kingwood LOL)

They were given the last two years SLC was in 4A. SLC got 136 points in 2000 and 150 points in 2001. SLC set the all-time record in 2000 and then beat their own record in 2001.
No doubt Highland Park was glad SLC moved up.
