well, the majority of the estimations have placed them in D1. I mean, it's still possible for Carroll to go D2, But I think they'll end up in 1

It's hard to count out Northshore. I know they haven't been there in a few years and have had a hard time getting out of the region but their defense is stuffing everybody this year. I also know they are in a weak district but they are putting such numbers up that it is irrelevant. The biggest competition for them may well be Cy Fair - I hope it gets to that and, if so, I hope the Bobcats take it but that's just the homer in me:)

(You guys better lookout for Cy Falls. At this point, they really wouldn't have much of a contest - in the first 2 or 3 rounds of the Playoffs, until they come up against, maybe, Katy - in the Regionals. They were only seconds from upsetting Katy, in the Playoffs last year, and I felt Katy was stronger, last year, than they are this year...while Cy Falls was weaker, last year, than they are this year.)

I hear ya mom. That is a tough district. I wish NS could play the CY Fair teams every year. The competition is stronger. I can only brag on Shore's defense as being a juggernaught and not the offense, so I'm not wearing Scarlet colored glasses. As I've stated on other threads, NS has unknowns and unheralded players on this team except for Chris Gaineous. They are quiet and work as a team going about their business.

Let's not forget Trinity. The defending D1 champ will be part of the mix...if SLC goes D1 and plays Trinity in the second round the UIL should declare the winner the D1 champ. Lots of respect to NS and Westfield, but I believe it is all academic after the second week. D2 is a different story...Lufkin will be there but their opponent could be several different teams.

The odds of SLC aren't strong and they rest upon Haltom winning the next 3 games (Keller Central, Justin Northwest, and Keller) and Grapevine losing 2 of their last 3 games (Including SLC and C Heritage) or C Heritage to lose their last 3 games.

If Haltom loses to Keller Central this week, you can pretty much put SLC in D1.

I would say Lufkin has about a 40% shot at going div1. Div2 is more likely but it is definitely not for sure.

I know that one game is not always a true indicator of a Teams true ability, but between those two games I felt that Katy would beat Smithson Valley. I could certainly be wrong, and I have no idea how each team has progressed since, but based on one early season observation that is my opinion.

One thing I do believe is that Northshore is the best team I have seen this year. The D is near the 2003 level. I would love to see them and Slc in the championship game.
It will be interesting to watch my Alma Mater tomorrow night to get a comparison. That has been the one good thing about the Woods schedule, we have gotten to see a few of the states top teams.
