Sounds like Coppell might make the playoff this year.

Sounds to me like Coppell is impressing a lot of people. Who do they play next?

We still think SLC will be on our schedule later in the year.

Could be round 1. See my post on the other Coppell thread.

The Cowboys are pretty good. It'll be interesting when they hit their last three games, FM Marcus, Flower Mound, and Hebron (the order of which I forgot). We'll see how they match up against the (most likely) other three playoff teams from 6-5A.

Coppell 59, Grapevine 0 -> Coppell 38 Newman Smith 0 -> Newman Smith 49, Haltom 28 -> Haltom 41, Grapevine 27 -> LD Bell 21, Newman Smith 10 -> Grand Prairie 23, LD Bell 20 -> Richland 34, Grand Prairie 7 -> Richland 34, Haltom 27

I guess you learn a lot about the DFW area districts using this chain.

Beating Smith is not something to brag about.

Coppell actually underperformed if they only managed 38.

Or maybe the Cowboys showed some class for once and chose not to run the score up. It'd be the first time.

I can't wait to see how Coppell brags when they beat Turner.

And I have nothing against the Cowboy football team. They are really good, and deserve to be ranked like they are. The Coppell-Jesuit game was a great game. But some happenings there reminded me of the typical lack of class I see from CHS fans.

No, the Cowboys did not play their best game of the year Thursday, but did win.The Cowboys have already played Turner and won 59-0. The truth is ,in the Jesuit game, the score was 34-7 at the beginning of the 4th quarter when the Cowboys put in the 2nd and 3rd string on both sides of the ball and that is when Jesuit began to score and make the game interesting. There is nothing there to talk about running up a score. Last year the 2nd and 3rd strings kept scoring and the final was 52-17 I believe. It was 17-17 at the half. There is a great amount of class by the coaching staff at Coppell. Certainly when it has involved the Coppell/ Jesuit games. If anyone is playing in a game no matter what string a player is, he will play hard until the end. Cowboy Fight Never Dies!!!!

I have no problem with their coaching staff. Coach Fuller is a class act from all I've heard.

I do have a problem with the Cowboy Band, whoever ran the PA system at the game, and a large majority of Cowboy fans.

The PA announcer decided that it would be a wise decision to play music over the top of our alma mater. Without a doubt it was the tackiest decision I have ever seen in high school sports.

The football program is very good. And even if the 2nd-stringers were in when Jesuit's drive started, you know they came back in as the lead narrowed.

Good job Cowboy football. You may go 10-0, but Carroll and/or Trinity will be waiting for you in the playoffs.

Agree that it doesn't mean much to beat Smith -- wish it were otherwise.
Coppell has already played Turner, which they dispatched 59-0 last week. It does mean something to put the kind of points they have been.

Hate to say this, Cowboys, but it is a rougher road ahead in district as they tour it with apparently the toughest district opponents in the final three games.

I do not remeber the PA music over the Jesuit Alma Mater. That is not a class act and I am certain a BIG mistake was made.

Yes, Coppell's toughest district opponents are in front of them. This team is focused on one at a time though. Creekview Friday.

Yes the tougher games are ahead, but the team continues to improve. We may have to play Trinity down the road, but we have already scrimmaged them this year. Whether or not you can say you won a scrimmage is arguable, but the players walked away full of confidence for the season.

Absolutely nothing.

Beating Smith, and using it as an example for saying that yours is the best district in North Texas, is foolish.

I noticed you COMPLETELY omitted any team from 9-5A, who are pretty much the consensus choice as toughest district.

CowboyDad

9-5A was considered the best district in pre-season before Berkner showed to be over-rated and Plano East lost to an average Mesquite team. It's not that clear cut anymore.

Hey The Lone Ranger, you've inspired me to register at this site to respond to your comments. I was at that game and can assure you that there was no music played over the PA during your alma mater. The Coppell Band always stands at attention during opposing schools alma maters and the fans generally stand quitely as well.

I'm assuming your complaint about the CHS band is that they played alot during the game and cheered wildly. They always do, that's their job, to support the team and make noise. Its called home field advantage. If there were specific acts of unsportsmanship you observed by the band or fans from way across the field then please backup your statement. Otherwise, cheering loudly and playing to support your team is GOOD sportmanship.

Yeah... The Coppel Band is always loud. That's their best quality. In my opinion, that's why they made the finals at BOA. Anyways, I wasn't at the game where they elligidly played over the Alma Mater. But nothing close to thatw as done at the Lewisville-Coppell Game.

The Lone Ranger

Perhaps I was unclear.

The cowboy band didn't play over our alma mater, the PA did. That was very tacky, however I do think that it was likely that the PA announcer couldn't hear what the Ranger band was doing--they aren't very loud.

The Cowboy band did however continue to play after we had scored in the 4th, including during the PAT. That was pretty tacky. Usually the ettiquete is to let the scoring band play their school fight song.

But the Band did not disrespect the alma mater. There was still disrespect though.

Might I add that the CHS band is VERY good...probably the best I have seen outside of Townview Magnet Center in Dallas.

Keep up the good work.
