I rarely consume alcohol. I'm not the biggest fan of beer, wine and whiskey. But after watching my beloved Westerners only have 2 first downs, I might have to drown my sorrows. There was only 41 total yards of offense (it might be adjusted to 39--a Bobcat poster said it was only 39). The San Angelo offense just ran to the right and there was yards aplenty. The coaching staff might be considered clinically insane as they ran the same play over and over again with the same result (lost yards or no yards). Run up the middle while the Bobcats had people in the box with linebackers creeping in. Didn't work the first time, didn't work the third time, DIDN'T WORK THE TWENTIETH TIME!!!!

The offensive line seemed to have an Ole! style of blocking as there was usually 2 or more Bobcats in the backfield whenever the QB Colin White was trying to pass or Scott trying to run. Then again...there was a good amount of SAC players in the box--or it seemed that way!

What about the defense of Lubbock High? Well, SAC did have the ball for over THIRTY MINUTES!!! Tends to happen when the offense goes three and out every series. So, I was glad it was only a 7-0 lead at halftime. Then a muffed punt and Central got on the LHS 1 yard line. Touchdown on the first play. Another 3 and out.

San Angelo Central had the most success with one play--a run off the right tackle. Each time this play was ran, there was at least 15 yards gained. EVERY TIME. The defensive line was always sucked in to the inside. The linebackers were not present as they were also pulled into the inside, giving up all that open space to the Bobcat runners. Plus there was bad tackling by LHS. When they actually got to the runner, they either went for the ball or just did arm tackling. Add more yards to the SAC offense. Touchdown for the Bobcats. The process repeated itself on SAC's next scoring drive.

If this keeps up...it looks like it might be another year of no playoffs!! Goodness gracious!!!! Definitely not the way to start district!!!

Suddenly, a little scotch doesn't seem so bad.

But you know what that actually got me also angry. I saw people on the Westerner side leaving with 6:00 to go...in the THIRD QUARTER!!! The score was 21-0, but at least support them!!! I stayed 'til the bitter end. I didn't take too many pictures as if I had the camera in hand I probably would have thrown it down in disgust.

It was a bad day, ladies and gentlemen. I want my school to succeed in football. The student athletes do work hard and they are trying...just nothing seems to be working whenever LHS goes into district play. We desperately need more depth and a better variety of playcalling.

If we don't get a lot more student athletes (remember we play at 5A with low 4A or high 3A depth) then it might be another 30 years before LHS makes the playoffs (probably when the UIL makes it mandatory for all teams to participate in the postseason).

I won't give up, yet!! Come on, Westerners! Let's have a great game against Coronado!

Ole! style of blocking - PRICELESS - I can visualize that in my mind perfectly with the results you described.

What was the final score? Keep your spirits up - not chuggin' them down - they can bounce back next week. Every loss is a learning experience.
