Here's an article from the DMN on Mesquite WR Krys Buerck.

If given the choice of covers, Mesquite receiver Krys Buerck would rather make Sports Illustrated than GQ.
"He's an athlete at heart," said Debra Buerck, Krys' mother.
With the looks of a model. So much so that Debra took some pictures of her son, dressed in suit and tie with his hair neatly trimmed, and submitted them in the 2006 Kim Dawson model search.
Out of 1,500 contestants, Buerck advanced to the second round along with 35 others. Though Buerck didn't advance further – at 5-10 ½ , he's a half-inch shorter than what the agency was looking for – he did receive good news. Buerck's mother said the agency told her it might use Krys' pictures in advertising brochures.
"It's funny, but Krys is very shy," Debra said. "He was for a long time. But after this [modeling tryout], it's given him a confidence booster."
No need for one on the football field, where the 167-pound senior is a model teammate and model receiver and has been for some time. Buerck, who is orally committed to Baylor, leads Mesquite in receptions (26), receiving yards (424) and receiving touchdowns (six).
He's had two signature games. In a 35-14 victory against Carter last month, Buerck made seven catches for 131 yards and two touchdowns. He did this with a strained hip flexor that kept him out of practice the Wednesday and Thursday before the game.
"No matter what, I was going to play," Buerck said. "I had to be there for my team. It's the best game I had."
Those who saw him beat Rockwall in last season's final regular-season game might disagree. Buerck had three receptions for 78 yards, including a 17-yard touchdown grab as time expired, giving Mesquite a 20-19 win. The win clinched a playoff berth.
When Buerck made it back to the sidelines, he was mobbed by his teammates. Buerck called it the most exciting moment of his football career.
"It was for the seniors," Buerck said. "I wanted to give them one more game. I wanted to do what I could."
The quarterback behind all those throws was Kelly Page. But starting today, when Mesquite plays Tyler John Tyler at Hanby Stadium, sophomore Luke Halpin will be quarterbacking. Page tore his ACL on Sept. 30 against Midland Lee and is out for the season.
"Now that Luke's in the game, coach expects me to step up my play," Buerck said. "I have to be more of a leader, be more of an influence to others. I have to play better. I have confidence in [Halpin]."
And Buerck's teammates have confidence in him.
"Against Carter, you saw him make diving catches that were unbelievable," Page said. "All you've got to do is put it in the area, and he comes down with it. Against [Mesquite] Horn, I threw the ball, and there were five defenders around. It was like third-and-25.
"He jumped up and came down with it. It was the most unbelievable thing I've ever seen. He's got a great attitude, a great work ethic, and he's always trying to get better."
On the football field and in the classroom. Buerck has an overall grade point average of 3.75 and has earned a National Society of High School Scholars award.
He is the model student-athlete. But that doesn't stop his teammates from ribbing him.
"They joke about the modeling," Buerck said. "They're like, 'Oh, you're going to be the next top model.' When we took team pictures, they said, 'Hey, that's the model. Better get used to him in pictures.' "

Good luck and Go Skeeters!
