Be convicted of a felony...Just kidding.
other than that...I don't know.
The only time I had it I was in the Navy and just sent them a copy of my orders and they let me off.
Go to it...when they pick the jury...say something really stupid and you won't get picked.

Say your "ThEgReAtOnE", and they'll ask for your Top Secret Clearance ID.
Give them the following:
ID: 4121O - URRS2006
Password Quote: "zebra corn flakes in taco monkey soup"
In amazement, they'll excuse you.;)
Trust me!

They should send you a piece of paper in the mail with a multiple choice reason you cannot serve. That is what I did last year.

The exemptions are:
Only for elderly (older than 70).
In big bold letters WORK IS NOT EXCUSEABLE
Care of elderly parent where it would cause hardships
Single parent care for children where it would cause hardship

If it's Dallas County, which court building did your summons come from?
George Allen building handles civil suits. Frank Crowley building handles crimial cases. I prefer the George Allen building. If its Frank Crowley and you enter from the south entrance, you can hear the criminals in Lew Sterret hollering and yelling. Not a good feeling.

If the County is in a crack-down mode on jury duty skippers like they were last year, they can put a person in jail for 3 days. Just what I heard though.

(steps on soapbox)
Have you ever served on a jury before? I have not, and I am 47 years old. Just once I would like to get that notice . I have voted in every election since 1978. Local, state, and national. I have voted from overseas when I was in the Army, from my homes all over the USA, and from my home in Bexar County for a 5-year span. I have been in Copperas Cove and voting for over 4 years and never got a summons. I've always been told the only way to get out of jury duty for sure is to NOT VOTE, since they pull the potential jurors from voter registration lists. I am jealous of the opportunity you have to "get out of this." Really. Wish that was a problem I had this week/month/year.
(steps off soapbox)
I'm better now.
Apparently, to get out of jury duty, you have to be me. THAT gets you out of the summons and you never have to worry about the duty...:D

Just tell 'em that you're in favor of the death penalty for any conviction worse than a parking ticket.

That really does work.
You can also tell them that you are:
a. racist
b. you will base your verdict on how attractive the Defense attorney is.
c.your an anarcist.
d. tell them you think you had a couple of drinks with the defendent the moment you walk in the courthouse and see him or her.

I've been summoned once while I was in the Air Force. I told them I was a weapons instructor the Air Force Security Police/Forces Academy. I was exempted from jury duty that was about eight years ago, haven't been summoned again
