Ok, showing how stupid Fran is... You have a kid that was Recruited as a QB, your obivously not gonna use him at QB since you "Think" you have your QB already (which in my opinion Jerrod Johnson has far more potential at QB then Mcgee has... And jerrod has a much stronger arm.. Some will disagree with Jerrod as a legit QB..But you didnt watch this kid play in high school with an absoulte absence of WR capable of catching perfectly thrown passes and made it work anyway...He didnt win the Houston TD award for nothing).. So put this kid in so he can do something for you... he would of been one of the top WR recruits in the state if recruited at the positon.. Some even said he would of been the Number 1 WR in the state... Amazing Hands, amazing route running and amazing size!!!! USE HIM, He is an incredible athlete.

To get to the main question.. For aggie fans (im not, im just a J. johnson fan) Is he red-shirted this season... Whats the deal?

All signs point to redshirt. And no, he's not moving to WR, Jamie McCoy is likely moving to WR. But even then, it's doubtful. We are pretty stacked at WR at the moment. McGee is where this team is heading right now.

Also, i think that McGee will likely start the next three years, and Jerrod Johnson will be a redshirt junior when he starts. Of course, we will like throw Ryan Tannehill into the mix depending on who the new coach is.

I'm also a fan of JJ, and his potential. He wasn't given the appropriate attention he needed in HS, mainly because of an ignorant HC and - what seemd to be - JJ's own desire to excel at Basketball, more so than football. He didn't strike me as a die-hard-rip-out-their-throat kind of football player. (I.E....Charlie Ward)

He's planning to play basketball, as well, which probably won't help his chances at reaching his football potential. He's got great size @ 6'6 1/2 228 pounds and superb hands...plus his speed is solid, with a 4.4 to 4.5 40 yd.

Unfortunately, I think FranCHOKEY will screw the pooch on this one. This kid will end up as an All-Conference Basketball player, and an undeveloped TE on the football squad. In otherwords, he'll probably waiste the kids talent.

Johnson will probably get his shot at the back-up spot at the very least. I have it on very good authority that Jamie McCoy is transfering to a school in Abilene after this season. Hint: the school he is going to wears purple jerseys and their macot is not a cat.

Only when FranCHOKEY isn't there will we get a chance to see the potential greatness of an Aggy, let alone Johnson.

Great move for the McCoy kid. And to think, he probably thinks it's a step down.;)

I agree with you on the lack of attention during HS... Neil Quillen didnt allow this kid to take hold of the QB Position because he was in love with Jamal Pettiford who turned out to be a waste of talent all together...JJ should of had the starting Spot as a Sophmore... as soon as Neil retired Walt beasly put this kid were he belonged... Though the team was young and inexperianced he challanged the future state finalist Katy (prob would of beat them if they had a more Mature bunch of WR) and others... He carried his team as far as any one player could... But when he had a bad game, The team lost. It really wasnt fair.

As for the football/Basketball thing... He loves basketball, but he loves football more...ive talked to him a couple times and the guy has always come off as a football guy... He is great at Basketball but he wants to pursue Football... he loves the QB position. The kid has alot of heart, i remember seeing him balling his eyes out after the loss to Laporte... His dream since he was little was to win Humble its first state championship.. and he failed. He cant stand to lose, and blames every loss on himself... The kid is a class act.. Really quit, and a good student.... I hope "Franchokey" gets fired and someone with a half a brain comes in and gives this kid a chance to shine... He isnt Vince Young, but i know he can be the Aggies Superman.

I love to watch him play because he give 200% every single time he is out thier win or lose.... Ive never seen a guy try so hard to make his team look fantastic when they really arent... He is a team guy. He deserves a shot to start sometime before its all said and done...

I like to hear that. I'll be pulling for him. As a matter of fact, I'm on the Aggie campus (athletic dept./field house) every now and then, so I'll make it a point to talk to the kid. See where his head is at.

Stephen McGee ought to transfer to a school that would better suit his talents. Fran is wasting him in that offense. McGee was one of the most natural, fluid, accurate passers that I've seen at the HS level and as soon as he got to A&M, they made him an option QB...wth?? That kid has Sunday talent, but you'd hardly know it if you've only seen him at A&M.

Johnson is a great athlete, but he's still very raw. I was never overly impressed with him in HS, aside from the fact that he was the single best looking player in uniform. I don't even think he knows how good he could be, though. I never imagined him as a 4.4 type, because he never looked that fast, but he's fast enough. He's definitely a long-strider, so it may just take him awhile to gear up. I think he has the tools to be special, but I think he's a year or two away simply because of his lack of development in HS (not his fault).

He def. doesnt know how good he could be...or how good he is. He was extremly humble (no pun intended) after winning the Houston TD award. and being invited to the All star Game...Were he displayed his talent at Texas..... No one can argue that he is raw... But i also dont think anyone can argue that he has tremendous upside for a QB even though he lacks the development.

Did you make that up? I count 20 WRs on the roster, of which two are seniors, Schroeder and Riley. About 8 of those receivers are on active rotation. and 6 are extremely capable that we've seen in play. Unseen still are FR Cody Beyer, Chris Caflisch, and EJ Shankle. With recruiting still going out hard for Tolliver and Bryant (though unlikely). JJ isn't going to WR. He wants to be a QB. Hopefully, we can get a new coach that will not waste his talent, especially with an overall better team around him than what Reggie had to work with namely the OLine and stable of quality Rbacks. Oh and J-Train.

JJ runs about a 4.65-4.7 probably. He would be a tight end before receiver. He's just not quick enough to be a receiver. He's probably pretty fast once he gets rolling, but his change of direction and start/stop ability is not good for a receiver.

You say he was wasted in high school, but I say the longer he stays at qb, the worse his chances of being drafted to the NFL. He's not an NFL caliber qb. He could possibly develop into an NFL caliber tight end though, assuming he can put on about 30 pounds over the next 5 years.

He runs the 4.5... It doesnt look like he is moving that fast because of his stride, but i was thier when they timed him. As a reciever he isnt required to be quick.. get down field and catch the ball. The kid is 6'6 and has a pair of amazing hands... His routes..Impecable. As for the QB part, did you watch this kid last year? He has amazing arm strengh and can make any throw... He can throw on the move, and sit in the pocket... his change of direction only hurts him if he is moving east to west, but moving north south it is difficult to get this kid down... Alot has to do with the fact that you cant arm tackle this guy...You got to be able to nail him.. And if you watch his film you will see that it takes more then one guy to bring him down.

Its funny how people underestimate this guy...alot of critics are going to be eating thier words. I dont even need to argue this, watch this kid on film...Then talk to him. He has the physical ability to thrive as a college and eventually a NFL if he is so lucky. And he has the heart and dedication most of all to thrive.

I saw him play three times against Baytown Lee. Lee has bad bad defenses. Lee had absolutely no problem containing this guy. He's somewhat elusive for a guy his size. He's kinda tricky with his moves. He doesn't run a 4.5. If he were to enter the NFL draft tomorrow and goto the combine, he would run a 4.65 or so. This isn't slow for a qb of his size at all. He's a good athlete, but not a good qb. He seems like a great guy. He seems well spoken and down to earth, but I can't give him any extra football points for his personality.

Not a good QB? what do you base that on? You watched him what, 1 time playing at the QB position. maybe 2 if they took out Jammal pettiford during the 2004-2005 Baytown lee-humble game... JJ won the Houston TD award, that is a pretty big honor considering the names that have recieved it.. Vince Young, Drew Tate, and Bobby ried... sorry i cant bring my self to agree that this kid isnt a college QB and potentially a NFL QB. He has great poise and a Great strong and very accurate arm, not to mention that he is great throwing on the move....

i was thier when they timed his Forty (not that it really matters but your wrong) it was a 4.5... Rivals has it down as 4.5... He may have very well ran a 4.65 when you watched him, But im telling you this kid is developing into a man and hasnt peaked yet... He is only going to get bigger, stronger, and faster.

Can someone please tell me why Fran is able to convince ANY top-notch WR in Texas to go to College Station? It is pretty clear Franchione has decided that the passing game just isn't for him--- it just seems like I see so many WRs (and TE's for that matter) go there and sit around and waste their talent. Heck, 'Tellus only has 13 receptions on the season, and they aren't even looking his way.

I just don't know...I can't understand how A&M continues to recruit at the level they do, but I REALLY don't understand how they keep luring WR's out there to block.

I don't know how else to tell you, but to watch and see it for yourself. You have a high opinion of Humble and its players, from what I have seen you post on this site. You think Humble is the kryptonite for North Shore this year somehow. Humble is struggling with the likes of Channelview and Baytown Sterling. Maybe you should step back and realize your perceptions of Humble and its players are not really mirroring reality.

And I don't mean any of this in a mean way...

Hahaha! First off, i said that Humble has a CHANCE, against North shore. Could they beat North shore, i think so... Will they. Prob not. I Picked NS to get out of region 3 and make it the state championship. By no means do i think that Humble is NS kyrptonite...but both school are equal in talent and have a histroy in the playoffs, and because of that i wanna see them play in the region. Humble has a problem this year with consistancy, and its going to hurt them if they dont get that fixed. Humble has a great TEAM this year... They were down against a fairly good team (dont underestimate Channel view, i sure did).. and were able to comeback and win it. Im proud of what the coaches have accomplished because this is somthing i have never seen before at Humble, Team work.

Oh, i dont take it in a mean way at all. I respect your opinion.
