Well, I'm surprised none of you Cowboys fans started up a a thread about last night?
Any of you all impressed with your new team?

He got over 520 yards in a High School game at Irving?

Hopefully he can produce like that during the regular season, but Demarcus Ware was insane last night... two forced fumbles, one recovered, int, and a sack... gotta love that production....

But it didn't. I'm still pissed.

Hey, Hd - it's still a "game"....and Dallas needs the experience anyways.

FYI...the last time the Cowboys won the Super Bowl...they went O-4 in
pre-season games...whoopty-doo.

So why even discuss ...much less watch a pre-season game. I watch about 2 plays....that's it. It isn't at all interesting to me. It's like watching a love scene with Halle Barry in it....but you know they aren't gonna show anything...what's the freakin' point. Don't get me all worked up over something that doesn't matter.
Reaganrattler07
08-23-2005, 07:39 PM
Sorry Wide, wasn't meaning to get you you worked up.
What I was saying was how the "Cowboys needed it" was so that they can try their new offense on a team. And so that their replacements can get some playing experience.

Tyson Thompson, I was also looking forward to seeing him play again. He did pretty good in their first preseason game and hes freakin fast, although it was against the 3rd string defense.

I'm not that big of a Cowboys fan. In fact, I was a Redskins fan before I came to Texas. Calling the Redskins "America's Team" is like trying to call the Kansas City Royals the "Evil Empire."

Justin Beriault (#40, Rookie, Safety) looked very impressive.
"With the selection of Justin Beriault (pronounced BARE-ee-oh) in the sixth round (208th overall) of the NFL Draft, the Cowboys were able to address a need for depth at safety. Beriault, who started 45-of-46 career games at Ball State, is one of only a handful of players in the history of college football to register at least 100 tackles a season each of his four seasons, finishing his career with 508 tackles. This high level of production is exactly what the coaches will be looking for from the two-time winner of Ball State's Mark Hays Inspirational Award as he adjusts to the professional game and battles for playing time in the defensive secondary." Dallas Cowboys Team Biographies.

Yeah, that is pretty much the mentality that people use. Although, I think the "deciding factor" should be is the champions of each respected league
NFL - Patriots
NBA- Spurs
MLB - Red Sox

He was being factitious with you Red....the royal, wizard and nat are no where close to being considered America’s team...and btw? Neither are the Redskins. Sales alone tell you that.... Dallas used to sale more than any other team. Greenbay took that over a few years back. I'm not sure who leads in team paraphernalia sales now.

Was he? And if you read our reasoning, it was because they played in the NATIONS CAPITAL. And in another thing we also considered that each champion from each respected league would be "america's team".
But I really didn't expect Cowboys fans of all people to understand this...

Travel the country young buck...then come back and tell which team has fans in EVERY FREAKIN' city you go to...I promise you it ain't the Redskins. Yeah they sold out Sun Devil Stadium.......for A ROAD GAME....not playing at home...and Cowboys fans show up by the thousands...If anybody else can do that...and do it on a consistant basis for years...Then they can call themselves America's Team..until then shut up and deal with it.

I already have. I have been to every region in the US and lived in all 4 directions...an no other team....I mean none...has the nationwide following that the Dallas Cowboys have. You could be in a bar in San Diego and go 20 years without seeing a single Redskins fan...but you will see not only one...but an entire section of Cowboys fans. It's the same in every city. That's why....the closest would be the Yankees and even they are a distant second. Do you think the Cowboys just made that name up?...They are called that for a reason.

I was trying to find out who coined the phrase "Americas Team" and this is what I found... enjoyThe Vice-President and Editor-in-Chief of NFL Films coined the phrase after the 1978 season. The reason? “I noticed that wherever the Cowboys played, you saw people in the stands with Cowboys jerseys and hats and pennants. Plus, they were always the national game on television.” After that, in the first game of the next season, the television announcer introduced them as America’s Team and it stuck.
