I witnessed my first game at Kyle Field in person yesterday, and I followed that up by my first venture onto Texags this morning. WOW!!!! have y'all got some issues!
1. I see awesome nice/ classy fans at the game, then I keep reading about how bad Tech sucks on the boards. Don't you folks know that just reflects on the Aggies? Tech came to the land of milkmen, dead dogs, and Zebra Cakes and left with a "W." Tech will be fine without your endorsement. There was actually one post on Texags comparing the game yesterday to one match in the Ryder Cup, but you have to look at all of the "matches"(golf, track, ect) to see how good a school is doing. Talk about justification in one's own mind. Is this this what aggy has sunken to- saying "We'll get you on the links" following a gridiron loss?

2. Infighting about the Corps' place at A&M. I must say it was strange to say the least to see aggy questioniing its own tradition. It does add to the atmosphere- a wierd one! seriously, I think it is great anytime you teach someone responsibility and "esprit de corps," but the over the top militarism in a non-military unit is hillarious. It is stunning to see aggy doubting its own Corps.

3. Sunshine Pumpers- aggy saying support the program or leave. lemmings are a very cohesive unit that stays together...to the death. Dissension may be the voice of reason...

4. I have never seen an individual/ family/ institution with more resources and such a H-U-G-E inferiority complex OMG! It was overwhelming yesterday. Accuse Tech of not caring, but at least we don't need a freaking shrink to find our place in the family! I looked at everything on campus and know about what's available to them, and just think - how much would all of this help Leach even more. Why are y'all worried about one stinkin school? It's like the guy who gets dumped in high school and never dates for the rest of his life! It ain't all about the Steers! It may be right now, because they've earned it. but y'all wore anti UT shirts yesterday, and sang to 'em, and everything- better figure out that there are 10 other games on your schedule and that big one at the end don't mean crap if you can't win the others.

I apologize, I interpreted your post wrong. I just think there are plenty of problem fans at both schools and that really shouldn't reflect on the school. They can't control who says they are fans and how they act.

I've tried to make it clear in every post that tha fans were very nice- except for the kid sitting in front of me that eyeballed me everytime aggy scored or made a big play- I just kept looking at the field. It was funny.

We were at the game yesterday also. No matter the outcome it was a heckuva game. I was concerned about this game for Tech after the way we played against the "toads", but what an ending. Franchione is now 20-20 at a university that has the venue, facilities and $$$ second to none. How long will the Ags stand for mediocrity? My bet that was the last game Fran coaches against Tech as an Aggie. Who will they go after if the buy Fran out?

so no different news here...Lets move on to more important things... like the last undefeated big 12 team coming to Lubbock this weekend for Tech's homecoming. Looks to be a shootout!

I cant wait to see Chase Daniel again... it will be weird cheering against him this time.

I'll give you my 2 cents. That game was awesome. I was right behind the Tech bench and Graham kept coming over and smiling at us when he'd come off the field. Several of the Aggy faithful would taunt Harrell a little, but they were cool for the most part. I heard one person say, 'We're worse than Rice." I turned around and said, "That makes you worse than Houston, too!":D

That place was loud. That proves once and for all that Aggy is full of hot air. Everybody looked like dead people walking after the game. I went to eat with Dragonband06 and he's cool. He's not Aggy like most of the people.

I jumped the wall to go on the field and walk out the south end zone after the game since it was quicker. The Tech band played a few bars of the Aggie War Hymn, but they wouldn't do more even though we were trying to get them to do so.

I heard one of the Aggie high-ups say this was the worst Tech team in the last 5 years and I know they absolutely hate being 3-9 in the last 12 games vs. Tech. If Tech had what A&M has, they'd never lose to the Aggies. If they had what Aggy had, they'd give UT all they could handle.

Leach will keep his job as long as he keeps beating Aggy. He's now 5-2 vs. Aggy, but he needs to step up that 1-5 vs. UT.

Fran is 1-3 vs. Tech and 0-3 vs. UT. That won't keep you employed very long. He's also a shaky 2-1 vs. Baylor. R.C. probably lost his job because he was 2-6 vs. Tech and 2-6 vs. UT in his last 8 years on the job. Yeah, Aggy has an inferiority complex with UT and being 2-9 against them kills their pride. Also being 3-9 vs. Tech absolutely drives them crazy.

If you want to see a joke, did you see how 4 people walk with Reveille? Talk about a waste of manpower!:D She gets 2 pages in the program, which ties Fran for the biggest write-up!:D I LOVE how it says, "The current A&M mascot, Reveille VII, may be the purest of the pure breeds and the most genetically-perfect collie in the country." The first one was a black mutt with white feet. 36 people claim they brought her to the campus and even back in the 40's they'd give her seats on a train and make others stand up!:D They paid $100 in 1943 to make her a General under a program the U.S. had during WWII to give military ranks to your dog. I think Reveille is a beautiful dog, but this limousine stuff has to go!

They have all the hand signals and chants in the football program. About 2/3 of the chants/yells contain words/sounds that aren't even in the English language!:D

If Tech had what you guys have, we'd have a Conference Title by now. We're not supposed to win the conference or beat Aggy. Obviously, I want Tech to beat OU, Aggy, and UT, but we're really not expected to do so.

I kept looking around, too. I could only see part of the 3rd deck since I was so low, but I was impressed with the fervor of the fans. It creates a great home field advantage. Since I was next to the field, I know it was impossible for the offense to hear anything when the crowd cranked up the volume.

As long as they lose to UT again, Fran is done. He's 1-6 vs. Tech and UT on his way to 1-7. R.C. started 10-2 against those 2, but found himself out of a job when he closed 4-12.

personally I don't think your biased two cents are worth 1 cent. If you don't like their traditions that is your right but you have no standing to criticize them. I always get a kick out of people who try so hard to make themselves feel superior to others by trying to belittle them. as far as hot air goes I think you might own the franchise on that. just my 2 cents

I didn't say anything to feel better about myself. I'm just saying some of the stuff is stupid. Stupid was not trademarked by and reserved for A&M only. I think that horrible sounding Coyote at Wichita Falls games is stupid, too. I think it was stupid back in the day when UH didn't have a cage for Shasta. Did they think she was never going to get feisty?

Most fraternity and sorority initiations and hazings are stupid. I could go on and on. You might even agree on a few of them.

Winning the game provides avenue for feedback( or bragging rights, in simple terms)

I don't have to say anything to feel better than aggy. All I have to do is look and listen... and hold in the laughter.

I am sorry but I was not impressed with either team. I mean Tech barely beat UTEP and TCU held them to 3 points. The same TCU team that lost to BYU last week. A&M barely beats Army (Yes I said Army) and can't even beat an above average at best Tech team at home. If Tech can just stop the run at all they score 60 on that aggie defense. I think both of these teams are mediocre to average at best. Just my opinion. UT should destroy both of them. I see a lot more potential in Tech then I did the aggies. The aggies defense is brutal and they should thank their offense for controlling the clock or it would have been ugly IMO. I hope I am wrong on these 2? My oldest sis is a Tech alum and huge fan and a&m has several Lufkin players. I just do not see it? Things can change though so there is always hope. I guess?

He did not make it. Was taking some juco classes at AC in Lufkin this summer to try and make it but decided to only show up a few times. It is sad and he only has himself to blame. Here is a blue chip recruit freshman all american at Tech and he does not make the effort to get the grades. We all deserve a 2nd chance though ( believe me I can relate) and hopefully he will get it together and come back. He had NFL written all over him. Rashad Hunt also failed out and Leonard Hewitt never made to Tech after not passing the test to get out of hs. :eek: Let's just say Tech is not too thrilled with LP players.

my boy jaco played alot for rice this weekend. i guess that is the true irony of it all. jaco is at one of the hardest schools in the country and sees fit to keep the grades, while more promising athletes at dial-a-grade u(at least for all-conference rbs) can't bother themselves to stay eligible(and believe me, i know whereof i speak).

actually, after watching that game, i'm not going to be surprised if rice is vying for the conference championship. they were the best 0-4 team in the country. anyone who doesn't just love major applewhite as an oc is braindead.

He did not make it. Was taking some juco classes at AC in Lufkin this summer to try and make it but decided to only show up a few times. It is sad and he only has himself to blame. Here is a blue chip recruit freshman all american at Tech and he does not make the effort to get the grades. We all deserve a 2nd chance though ( believe me I can relate) and hopefully he will get it together and come back. He had NFL written all over him. Rashad Hunt also failed out and Leonard Hewitt never made to Tech after not passing the test to get out of hs. :eek: Let's just say Tech is not too thrilled with LP players.
It's not just Tech that's not thrilled.:mad: When I think about Lufkin, I remember all the bozos I went to high school with who either failed out of universities (even regular people) or blew athletic scholarships.

my boy jaco played alot for rice this weekend. i guess that is the true irony of it all. jaco is at one of the hardest schools in the country and sees fit to keep the grades, while more promising athletes at dial-a-grade u(at least for all-conference rbs) can't bother themselves to stay eligible(and believe me, i know whereof i speak).

actually, after watching that game, i'm not going to be surprised if rice is vying for the conference championship. they were the best 0-4 team in the country. anyone who doesn't just love major applewhite as an oc is braindead.
They already lost to the best team in the division, though. It's not going to be easy to win the Conference.

Yeah Jaco is trying to follow in his brother or cousin I forget foot steps. His bro or cousin went onto play in the NFL. He is a good and smart kid and is doing well at Rice. There is actually many more success stories with these Lufkin kids then bad ones. The bad is just reported more then the good, and with Kiel, Dixon, Mcneal, Hunt, and Hewitt in the news for the negative stuff, it was not a good year for ex Lufkin players in the media. There are a load of ex Lufkin players that are currently doing well in their school and in the academic department. Just to name another M Roberts. Getting some playing time as a true freshmen at Indiana (Big10 school) and Indiana is a quality school in terms of academics.
