No doubt he and Bob Knight compare ways to respond to stupid reporter questions.

What did you tell Graham Herrell before the last drive?

"I told him to drive it down the field and score a touchdown".

Ok - thanks.

I heard it finally yesterday on ESPN Classic replay.

They lead into today's morning show on 610 in Houston with Leach's comments, just made my day:D

I had to get up at 2AM and work today. I'm still happy. This will last until Tech and Mizzou kick off this Sat.

Leach's new fascination
by Tim MacMahon DMN

Texas Tech coach Mike Leach has a well-documented interest in pirates. He even worked in a pirate reference during his postgame interview on ABC after the win over Texas A&M.

"Sometimes a pirate can beat a soldier," he said.

But pirates are no longer the leader among Leach's off-the-wall references. That honor goes to Irish mobsters. He loves the Showtime show Brother Hood about the Irish mob and said he's about to begin a book on the subject.

Yeah, on The Ticket radio station here in Dallas, they were talking about his fascination with pirates during last season and had Leach on the radio and asked him about it. He reads a bunch about pirates in the off-season and always has some new pirate project each season that he focuses on. When he made the aggy quote, they talked about it again this week and it reminded me of this thread. His pirate quote is much more personal to him that the average fan or press member would know.

How about a joke?

The aspiring psychiatrists from various colleges were attending their first class on emotional extremes. "Just to establish some parameters," said the professor, to the student from the University of Houston, "What is the opposite of joy?"

"Sadness," said the student.

"And the opposite of depression?" he asked of the young lady from Rice.

"Elation," said she.

"And you sir," he said to the young man from Texas A&M, "how about the opposite of woe?"

The Aggie replied, "Sir, I believe that would be giddy-up."
