Here is my two cents' worth.
I'm glad that the NCAA is not reinstating Rhett Bomar... yet.
Personally, I think he should be out for the entire season, and here's why. As a football player, especially in a starting position, he represents the school he plays for/goes to. He is an image for that school. Now, I'm not saying that OU is a bad school by any means, but when players do stupid stuff like that, it attaches a negative image to that school. What's even worse, is that he can transfer to some other school to find a loophole in the rule, and then what if he does something again? I say teach him a lesson. Give him a 1 season (or at LEAST 1/2) suspension. If he were an Aggie, I would be very upset, and I think OU took the right course of action in suspending him. Now it's NCAA's turn.

they should let Bomar come back for the Texas game only. This week would be more of a punishment than an opportunity

The NCAA could curb the cheating issues by punishing the player rather than the institution. IMO, he should never be allowed to play in the NCAA again.

Schools only have limited control over their boosters and fans. They can preach compliance all day long, at the end of the day the boosters and athletes CHOOSE themselves whether to comply.

If student athletes knew that by taking payment, they could risk their career in college sports and by extension a shot at the pros, they would turn down those handouts. Bomar is an especially egregious case. The NCAA needs to show that the athlete is responsible for his actions...he ought never to wear pads again for an NCAA team.

The head coach stated before the season start he did not think Bomar would play against Texas.

NO SHSU
this is one of the examples of the bcs unintended consequences bs. not so many years ago, there were very few games like this. now it is commonplace for a shsu to ***** their way to a $500k whipping. and the big school gets a w and a chance to play their whole bench.

I was hoping he would play... if he thinks he got "bomared" against UT the first time... I wonder what would happen with that O-Line he has now...

He probably is thanking God right now that he isnt going to play against Texas. Trust me, he is sleeping a little bit easier right now.
