These guys are killing me man. Where do I start?
I guess we can start with Herbstreit. I challenge everyone on this board to point out a bigger tool in all of television. Hell, the history of television.
His quote of the night was....
"Leading up to the USC game I think we are about to see the "real" Irish...people are going to see what this team is really capable of doing"
Really???? Boy you went out on a limb there didn't you Herbie.
Notre Dame's schedule leading up to USC >>>>
Sept. 30 PURDUE
Oct. 7 STANFORD
Oct. 21 UCLA
Oct. 28 at Navy (Baltimore, Md.)
Nov. 4 NORTH CAROLINA
Nov. 11 at Air Force
Nov. 18 ARMY
Nov. 25 at USC
Yeah...I guess we will see what they are capable of doing (against sub-par competition that is) We already know how they do against real competition.
Moving along....
Corso
Oh my Lord! The only word that even comes close to describing this guy is IDIOT.
Does this ignorant ******* even watch the games?
His quote(s) of the night...
"That game was worth 14 million dollars to Notre Dame...that just got them into the BCS game"
HUH?
How the hell do you figure that?
Quote #2
"California proving that they are for real...and they are still in the hunt for a national title"
This guy is clearly dilusional...Cal??? Dude of all the teams you could have named...you pull Cal out of your ***?
NOT Michigan...NOT Ohio St....NOT Texas................But Cal???
YOU ARE KILLING ME CORSO
Desmond Howard
He of "I return kickoffs and that's pretty much it" fame.
"my player of the day is Adrian Peterson...3 TDs and 137 yards"
Against who? Who Desmond? Strike a pose Desmond...pose and show all of us how freaking stupid you are.
Surely he didn't just say what I think he said did he?
Mark May
By default this guy makes the list. He manages to say something idiotic every week. It's like his job or something.
I just want to see the other script he had ready. You know the one marked "just in case Notre Dame loses". What would he say then?
Mark shut up and go block for Riggins fat boy. How'd that whole "USC is the greatest team in the history of football" thing work out for you?
The one thing I do like about ESPN is the fact that the Longhorns are flying totally under their radar now. I remember another year when ESPN totally overlooked them...

He thinks they'll still get a BCS bowl as a 2 loss team that they wouldn't do as a 3 loss team. Ol' Lonny says they might be a 3 loss team anyway.

California stinks, but announcers won't ever change their bad picks until you force them too. I'd rather have the guy come on there and say, "I was wrong about this team." The Tennessee team that Cal lost to needed to stop an Air Force 2-point conversion to win a few weeks back.

I get tired of the AP lovefest, too. Quite a few people would get like 180 yards a game if you feed them 30 times. The Blue Raiders are so good they can't even advance up to be a directional school, which is always sign #1 you're playing a scrub.

Innocent until proven guilty. He's innocent this week if you don't have incriminating evidence. Most weeks he's an idiot.

This isn't 2005. Don't confuse the 2. I will say that many teams look vulnerable right now. My money is on no title defense.

A lot of things would have to happen in order for Texas to play for the title. And to be honest I don't think they are ready. That is to say the QB situation isn't as stable as I would like for it to be.
It could still happen though.
The way the just totally blow past the highlights of other schools and spend 20 minutes on the Irish is the worst part.
Troy Smith had a couple of absolutely amazing plays for Ohio St. today. They blow past all of that in like 10 seconds.
It happens every weekend. Last year it was the Reggie Bush show...now it's the Brady Quinn show. It's sickening.
My only alternative is to turn it off I guess. Either that or I can switch over to FSN with that guy that looks like Teen Wolf. Ric Reinnar or whatever his name is ...I call him Teen Wolf.

Fowler is awesome. I was not tolerate insulting Fowler.
The only two guys doing college football on ESPiN that I really dislike are Mark May (major, major, major tool) and Lou Holtz who couldn't string together a coherent sentence if you actually brought him back from the dead. He was a good coach and I'm sure he's a good man, but the Elmer Fudd routine was older after the first 2 seconds. He has no place in front of a camera.

Fowler likes to party. There was a great story about Fowler getting plastered after the Texas/Kansas State game a couple of years ago. He had to be scraped off the street and he was hitting on every girl he could make out. Fowler also quoted Hornfans last year during that ridiculous “USC vs. the world” debacle. Dude is awesome.
He's always said Austin is one of his favorite stops, but I think his wide has clamped down on some of his partying.
BTW, Herbie picking aggy was stupid, but the guy is young and I am willing to forgive since he later admitted how stupid his prediction was. He vastly underestimated the suck that is Franochio and aggy.

I see what you're saying bro, however, anytime a rb can suit up and carry the rock 22 times for nearly a 100 yds and 3 tds and there's still 5 mins left on the clock, in only the 2nd Quarter....it's impressive, regardless of who they're playing. And especially when the opposition knows he's getting the workload. (Peterson came out in the second half and rushed the ball 5 times for 53 yds. He was pulled with 13:40 mins left in the 3rd Quarter. I wish he would of stayed in, that way he could have easily rushed for 200 more yds and 4 more tds. Padding stats, of course.)
And regardless where the rb is playing college 'ball, it's still a great thing knowing that the young man is from the Great State of TEJAS!;)

I actually like Lee Corso. The only thing he is there for is to provide comic relief. He says things that are stupid or waaaay out there and I find it amusing. Plus he never picks against UT so thats a major plus.
On the other hand I cannot stand Kirk. Ever since his prediction of Texas A&M I have discredited anything even remotely knowledgable he may have said. Beside the fact that he won't pick against USC no matter who they play.
And speaking of Mark May, is it possible for someone to be as big of a tool as him? WOW. I will never forget his USC vs the world BS. He would have picked USC to win the super bowl if they would have let him. The funniest part is he would probably do it again for this years USC team if ESPN was dumb enough to let him. I guess the only consolation I can get out of that is that since UT beat his best team of the world UT must have been the best team of the world right? Not according to Mr. Knowledgable May who STILL thinks it was a fluke...just like everytime USC loses.
As for Lou I just pay he doesn't have a heart attack while trying o make a pick. Imagine him trying to give the NFL blitz!! That would be hilarious just to try and see him talk fast.

Lou Holtz definitely isn't camera friendly, but there's no greater entertainment on TV than hearing Holtz say the name "Confucius".
Craig Way is easily the best TV/radio personality for Texas HS football right now. It's not even close. He may mix things up from time to time, but he really knows his stuff.
He's been involved in high school football for a long time. If he wasn't on the highlights show, I probably wouldn't watch it.
Yeah, Way has his faults, but his enthusiasm is perfect for HS football coverage. He and Renner (I hate having to admit, the Renner part) are so much better than the Super Chicks combo of last year, that it is laughable. Those girls were like Rosie O'Donnell giving a dissertation on Quantum Physics. You could listen to them and tell they were "Sports Readers" and didn't know squat about Texas HS Football.
My favorite radio guy fron the Humble days, was Ron Franklin. He was on there with Cactus ?????, I forget his last name. Those were the days.

Can't argue much there. I think young Buck will be one of the best too.
As for local broadcasts, I really like the Dallas Stars TV/radio guys, Ralph Strangis and "Razor" Reaugh (pronounced RAY). They are very good announcers and are very dryly funny and Reaugh , being Canadian, has some really good Canadian based one-liners that he peppers throughout the game.....gives it an authentic Canadian broadcast feel ....a really nice broadcast....especially since they juggle two audiences, their broadcast is simulcast on radio and TV, so it has to be not so intrusive as to be too much info for TV, but enough info for radio. I think they do an excellent job, especially since they have dual duties.

Thorne is my second favorite behind Buck. Thorne has become a excellent Baseball play by play and he has done some incredible work with college football.

I'm not a big hockey fan by any means, but I'd always stop and watch a Stanley Cup Playoffs game when I heard Gary Thorne on the TV. That's when I first became a fan of his play by play.

That is one guy that i like to listen to, regardless of who is playing- that should be what all announcers work toward.

I like Razor and Ralph. During the Cup run of 99 I was in Korea. I think I listened to those guys on a WBAP internet feed for like 88 of 104 games that year!:D

i'd be right there with you. does this make ff the vice-president of the joe buck fan club. he may very well have to take over for the president who has a severe shoulder dislocation from self-flaggelation of his own dorsal thorax. jb has never been one to shy away from listening to and over-enjoying the sound of his own voice.

make me VP all you want, I could do a much better impersonation than those fools on the commercial ;)
However whats wrong with Joe? I cant think of many that are better than he is at what he does. Him and Troy have become a aweomse team on NFL sundays and his ability to call baseball games is as good as you will find on the national level.

I'm sure we all get banned if we said what we wanted to about some guys in sports. There are plenty I cant stand either, its just Joe isnt one of them. I guess to each his own.

I like Joe Buck...he has grown on me a bit over time.
I still think he totally overreacted to the Randy Moss "mooning" of the Packers fans. He acted like Moss pulled out a gun and started shooting people.
Other than that he is better than most of the guys out there.

i believe jb believes that he is the show, not just reporting on it. it seems to gall him when the action precludes his presence on the air. ignoring his ego is difficult, but otherwise he is ok. i like troy pretty ok. i miss dandy don's irreverence and self-deprecating manner.

That picture is from Mt. Pleasant. I was going to put up an avatar of a Mt. Pleasant sign, but with the way the picture was taken and then chopped off, you would only see:
Welcome to the hea

A Texas Main Street City :D
Back to the subject at hand, I was going to say something short, sweet, and bannable!:D
